Did anyone watch the MTV VMAs last night? I was too busy getting my dick sucked, so I missed out on all the crazy celebrity antics. On that note, I was expecting to hear a lot about Janet Jackson's tribute or Lady Gaga's wild performance this morning. Leave it to Kanye West to steal the headlines.
So the story goes a little something like this… Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" quite deservingly won the award for Best Female Video. As she excitedly begins her speech, Kanye West jumps on stage to say, "Taylor, I'm really happy for you and I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos ['Single Ladies'] of all time."
Now here's the kicker–Beyoncé went on to win Video of the Year. As she came up on stage, she recalled how excited she was to win a VMA when she was seventeen and a member of Destiny's Child. Rather than bask in the spotlight, she stepped out in an attempt to correct Kanye's wrongs. "I'd like for Taylor to come out and have her moment, what about you?" And the crowd went wild!
In his standard caps-lock blog form, Mr. West has issued an apology to Swift, her mother and his fans. Even so, he refused to back down on his statement that "Single Ladies" deserved to take the award. Is this the last straw for his diva behavior? Or will the public forget about it by the time his next album drops?
