I’d like to make a few corrections. First, Pinups is not porn. The magazine features nude men, but it is never about sex. With Pinups I am interested in capturing a sense of comfort and confidence, not sex. I want the nudity to seem secondary but it’s actually quite important. To be nude is to be vulnerable but if the model looks like he’s relaxed and carefree, then the image is more compelling. I don’t go out of my way to make the photos sexually charged.
Second, Pinups is not about Bears. People often strive to thematize the subject of Pinups (typically using the prefix “post-,” as in “post-bear” or “post-porn”), but the only true constant is the layout. Of course, as is often the case, the nudity steals the spotlight; most of the focus is on the models, and the way in which they represent some monolithic symbol of a gay subculture’s preferences and ideals. While one might be able to label a guy as Pinups-y, the actual models share too few physical attributes to cohere as an easily classifiable type.
And lastly, I think it’s pretty tacky that you’re having people vote.

I did a play years ago when he just started out and he was so sexy, hot latin bod, boyish good charm. A little shy. But now he looks like when you go to your 20 year reuinon and you wanna see the hot and he turn out 2 be the slub with a belly who sit at home drinking beer in a trailer. @Christopher have you noticed what this site is about? it’s about things of pertinence to gay men, and one of those things happens to be other nude men. so maybe it’s not technically “porn”, but you are taking your work a bit too seriously… if you were a teacher, doctor, preacher then maybe you would have a valid point but you take pictures of people….
We can all look at the same photo and see different things based on our respective backgrounds, cultures, etc.
Personally, I would be thankful for the promotion because I wasn’t aware of your publication before this post BUT after viewing the site it’s obvious that you do a great job and have a quality product…

I have to admit, when I watched the video of him nude, I thought, this is a guy I’d love to cuddle with. I’m not a gym monkey model and I’m not looking for one; I’m a normal guy, and he seems like he’s got a great sense of humor and a lot of personality. And hell yes, I would hit that.

Fellow homos, I think you misinterpreted my earlier comment which was a response to the way Pinups was first explained here. Obviously viewers are free to interpret Pinups however they want. I’ve always tried to explore a number of ideas with Pinups but the conversation of whether or not a guy is hot seems trivial and irrelevant. Don’t you guys agree? Obviously there are some of us who are going to say “hell yes!” and some will say “I wouldn’t kick him out of bed” or “hell no”. Do we really need a poll to realize that? Aren’t you guys interested in talking about other, more interesting things like “is there a difference between porn/sex and mere nudity?” or “is it necessary to remove labels (Bear for example) in order to make a statement that beauty is subjective?” I guess I have to pinch myself and remember that this is Manhunt after all. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy talking about sex and guys that I think are hot. I just hope that Pinups motivates more compelling conversations and inspires people to be proud of their bodies. I’ve had the biggest crush on Guillermo since his I saw him on the Chappelle Show and then I saw him as Miranda on the Stonewall movie. He’s such a talented actor that can easily play straight or gay with no question. And yet, he’s been out since the beginning of his career. He’s a sweetheart and just sexy. I find him to be one of the least talented actors working prominently today… seriously, I wish him well – but I dreaded every episode of “Weeds” that he was on… take some acting classes guy…

I have had a huge crush on Diaz for over a decade. He has this warm and inviting face. And he seems so comfortable in his skin. I find him even sexier now that he is a bit older and softer.
