Weekly Top Ten Wild Card: Battle of The Blondes

On this Saturday’s edition of the Weekly Top Ten, one of you suggested a “Battle of The Blondes” between Pixie Lott, Kaci Battaglia, Sugarland and The Band Perry. As much as we love when you do our job for us, we had to make one tiny alteration.

Since Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush already had their chance back in August, we’ve opted to replace them with the next logical choice for a musical duo–Nicki Minaj and will.i.am. They’ll be going up against some fierce competition, so we can’t wait to see the results! Who will you be voting for?

– Dewitt

To listen to the selections and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

Pixie Lott – Broken Arrow: I’ve never been able to get into Pixie Lott. Her songs aren’t bad or anything, but she’s lacking a certain “oomph” in the performance department. Nevertheless, my opinion doesn’t really count, so you’re free to make your own conclusions on this matter. What do you think? Is this ballad doing it for you?

Kaci Battaglia f/ Ludacris – Body Shots: Yesterday, I witnessed four drunk girls meeting up in a train station. Upon seeing her friend’s outfit, one of the girls immediately blurted out, “Oh-mah-gawd, you look so-oooo hot.” She kept repeating this for five minutes, while her friend continued to thank her and return the compliment. Honestly, this is what I imagine Kaci Battaglia’s life is like. All the time.

Nicki Minaj f/ will.i.am – Check It Out: Okay, we know it’s a stretch to designate Nicki Minaj as a “blonde”, but anything is possible with the power of a good wig. And let’s be honest with one another! Half of her competition is definitely dabbling in the hair dye. As far as this song goes? It’s absolutely terrible. Except it’s terrible in the “I will be dancing to this when I get drunk” kind of way.

The Band Perry – If I Die Young: Ugh, I’m such a sucker for shit like this. Whoever suggested this song is going to be in a lot of trouble, because the cleaning staff is going to have a hell of a time cleaning my tear stains off of this desk. Well, not really, but still… you guys! This is totally beautiful. And I kind of want to have a threesome with the two brothers in this band. Wait, did I just ruin the moment?

Sugarland's Wide Open would've been great instead of Nikki Minaj.

All I can say about the first three songs:

    W T F ? ! ? !

The Band Perry is the only decent option this week, and it IS a great song, but seriously?!

  • wreckles

I don’t know if it pisses me off more that the Nicki song samples the Buggles or that it’s sampled on such a shitty song.

  • Casey

I think Sugarland wasn’t given a fair option without posting the official video.

  • KLF

I voted for Pixie because I love her music although this is not her best single. And shame on you, Dewitt. Trying to get it on with The Perry Brothers. Lol.

I voted for the Band Perry, too. Pixie Lott is okay, but nothing about her song says “awesome”.

Kaci Battaglia? UGH. ANOTHER song about drinking and going to “the club”. I’m entirely sick of this kind of music.

Nicki Minaj and Will.i.am. Not bad, to be honest, and the video is certainly interesting, but not a great song. On a good note, I finally know how to pronounce Nicki’s last name. 🙂

Really Dewitt?U wanna have sex with the 2 guys in the Perry vid? They look like someone put a mixing bowl on their heads and cut around it.They are soooo Justin Beehive looking. The song was nice tho,sad tho.
Nikki’s cut was fun at least,I love the line:’I dont sympathize, cuz you’re a simple bitch!’ LOL and the vid was pop funny! The other two?Bitches, pleeeeease…

I went with Kaci because she’s not gonna make it and the song was fun. I liked Pixie’s video because of the guys, but this one I have to hand it to The Perry Band, beautiful melodic song and I am not a fan of country music. Speaking of….Sugarland deserved to be here instead of Nicki Minaj. They also have the #1 album in the US this week.

I went with Pixie. I am always supporting my Brits. All of the songs have some kind of appeal, they are different genres after all. The Perry Band deserve even a Grammy nod for Best New Artist.

  • Stereo

Great selections for this week. My vote went to Kaci because she makes music that is fun and not be taken seriously. Sugarland has to be here next week. The guy in that video is so fucking hot.

Pixie Lott is the best of this group. Many people don’t get her music in America and that’s a shame. You have to consider that in 16 months she has had 6 Top 20 hits in the UK. Hopefully the re-issue of Turn it up will make it to the American market soon because she deserves to be a star there.

uhh that Kaci chick is like a knock off of a Britney spears songs. Like Blackout Britney…no bueno. Anywho Nicki is fun, talented, and intrigues me to no end, glad she won this one.
