“Nobody’s Perfect” makes us understand why people actually care about Jessie J. Does that mean it’s our favorite song in the world right now? Not exactly. However, there’s much more sincerity here than when she was singing about price tags, doing it like a dude and all that other bullshit. You can actually hear the pain and heartbreak in her voice, in a way similar to Mary J. Blige or Pink‘s strongest offerings.
All in all, we prefer when the rising UK pop star channels this level of aggression, rather than the schmaltzier energy of tracks like “Rainbow”. While a promo copy of her debut album has been sitting in our office for weeks, we still haven’t taken the time to listen to it… Maybe we should give it a chance?
