Do you love chicken and biscuits, but hate inequality? If you answered “yes” to that question and happen to live in the Boston area, then we’ve got fantastic news for you! One of our loveliest local businesses, dbar in Dorchester, has added a “Chick-2b-Gay” fried chicken entrée to their menu, in response to fast food chain Chick-fil-A‘s revolting crusade against homosexuality.

One-hundred percent of proceeds from the special will be donated to the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), as you chow down on a delicious boneless fried chicken entrée with mashed potatoes, gravy and a homemade biscuit. You don’t even need to make out with anyone while you’re there! Unless you want to.

After the “record-breaking” success of Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, we can’t just sit here and do nothing! And if eating yummy food is a way to do something… Well, how can you say “no” to that?

Enough already, Just because the owner has a different opinion is now reason to knickers in a twist. He is an old guy from the South who owns a chain of restaurants that is not open on Sundays for religious reasons. And we are shocked he is opposed to gay marriage. HOW DARE SOMEONE HAVE AN OPINION THAT IS DIFFERENT THAN MINE!!!!! Their sandwiches are the best. I would eat there even if they had 7 yo child slaves chained up in the back room making them. I might send a letter of protest to the main office, but it would be a thinly veiled attempt to get coupons.

That’s too bad… and sad (in my opinion). I saw the following on FB that nicely sums it up for me:
When “A Million Moms” boycotted JCPenney for having Ellen Degeneres as a
spokesperson, it was “The Right of the People to Stand up and Fight for
Their Beliefs”
When a a bunch of folks decide to not support a
business that *actively* supports anti-gay social and political
organizations; it’s “An Affront to free speech” (according to Sarah Palin) and a “war on Conservative Christians” (Baltimore Sun).
There is no war, folks. This is the free market that Conservatives
(usually) love so much. Everyone has the right to speak about their
beliefs -even Dan Cathy. I am grateful that he has clarified his
position on these social issues. I now understand that if I were to
spend my money at one of his establishments, that some of those dollars
would be going to causes that I cannot support; so I don’t do it.
That’s all. No war, no vendetta, no affront to free speech

It’s just another reason why I typically avoid chain restaurants and eat locally. If people wanna show their support for opposite sex marriage by eating fried food, go for it. But when they suffer a heart attack and have to be treated by a gay male nurse at their local hospital or go see a gay male trainer to lose that weight or get flowers sent to their hospital room made for them by a gay male florist…I’ll just laugh. We’re not going away.

It is not about getting one’s knickers in a twist. Nor is it about Mr. Cathy having a different opinion. One can plainly see by just looking at the comments of every post on here that opinions differ. In this case, it is about the fact that anyone who patronizes Chick-fil-A could have that money used towards inequality. I for one would love to marry (I live in PA), adopt kids, and give blood.
I have not patronized Chick-fil-A, Cracker Barrel, Wal-mart, and other companies who may use that money against me or my beliefs. It is Mr. Cathy’s First Amendment right to say what he believes, but it is my right to boycott his stores as an expression of free speech. Each dollar we spend at a company is vote to say that we approve of them, whether that is what we mean to do or not.
Also I hope your comment about child slaves was in jest.

I kind of agree…they do have a right to believe whatever they want. We already know people like this exist…why do we make a fuss every time? It’s not hurting me that he’s religious. I don’t give a shit :/ He ain’t a politician taking away everything gay…He owns chicken chain restaurants.

You know, a lot of people are hung up on the “different opinion on gay marriage” thing and that really isn’t the problem. That just brought him into the attention spot light and that’s where the problem started. This man funds organizations which are working to outlaw homosexual behavior, make str8 marriage the law of the land, and organizations focused on “reparative therapy” which not only doesn’t work but is actually harmful to the psyche. He can have an opinion on gay marriage like everyone else but when he is working to make his beliefs into laws which bring harm to us, he needs to be taken down a bit. All anyone is asking is that you, especially as a gay man, not eat there. They aren’t asking for blood, money or that you give up ever eating…just don’t eat there. It’s pretty easy. Every chick-fil-a in your belly is money in the pockets of a hater.

He actually IS taking away all of your rights…his Chik-fil-A profits go to fund many anti-gay initiatives, including killing homosexuals in Uganda.

There is a difference between free speech & discrimination. It is rather sad that so many people in this country think they are one in the same. Saying you don’t believe in Gay Marriage and funding anti Gay initiatives are 2 different things. Amazing how many people, who already have rights they never had to fight for, are so blind on this subject. Even more amazing is the number of women & minorities who adopt the same attitude. It is as if Slavery & the Holocaust were exercises in free speech.
