Mr. Gay Europe 2012: Miguel Ortiz

Who doesn’t love a good beauty pageant? It’s such DELICIOUS schadenfreude when a contestant gets asked a question that he or she has no idea how to answer and ends up sounding moronic or insane. Or both (OMGaga, she was amazing!). We’ve got man pageants now, so hot guys can be treated as slabs of meat, too. Mr. Gay Europe was held this past weekend, and 19-year-old Miguel Ortiz was crowned. Wow, he’s pretty young for a pageant queen. His response to that (taken from the Mr. Gay Europe website)?

I would like to be Mr. Gay Europe 2012 because, although some people might think that being 19 years is synonymous of being immature, irresponsible, etc, it isn’t necessarily true. My age can help me to make aware younger gay community that the fact of being young and gay does not mean being immune to disease in their sexual life. It´s prioritary to make them know it is necessary to use protection in order to fight against HIV with all our energies.

Well said, Miguel. In addition to participating in the fight against AIDS, this young man also look phenomenal in a Speedo. He was obviously a shoe-in.

There is an awesome pic of Miguel weeping as he received his…crown…tiara..what is that? It looks like the 2012 version of what Jambi wore on Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. Anyway, the sobbing over his triumph is so emotional and stirring. We love a beauty queen in touch with his feelings. Maybe his older sister yelled at a judge and he overhead?
