This is a pleasant video (certainly a little less controversial than last week’s Must Watch) in which a cute guy in spandex explains how he avoided Barbra Streisand because he thought it would be embracing a stereotype to even give her a chance. And then he watched Yentl and a whole new world opened up for him! A world in which there were bowls of candy and the sun was buttah! If you could care less about his life lesson, you can still enjoy how he’s pretty and earns points for the use of “bollocks.”

This made me all giddy inside. It’s so sweet that his mom introduced him to Babs. I really love her 70’s pictures where she always chose the hottest men of the time, at the peak of their looks and careers as her co-stars. James Caan just after The Godfather for Funny Lady, Redford for The Way We Were, Kris Kristofferson is so hot in A Star is Born even though the picture is a bit weak, and Ryan O Neal in both What’s Up Doc and Main Event – especially What’s Up Doc which was soon after Love Story and he is just gorgeous, it’s a shame what a mess he is today. Anyways I’m 37 and was barely alive when these movies were made but I’ve come to love them all….
Now singlet guy has gotta discover Liza Minnelli in Cabaret and New York, New York (plus the long forgotten Lucky Lady with Burt Reynolds and Gene Hackman from 1975 which finally was released on DVD last month… they are bootleggers in the 1920`s who have a 3-way relationship since neither man can satisfy her alone – try to find that in a big budget picture today!)
Geez, I hope singlet guy hasn’t also overlooked all of Liza’s mom Judy Garland’s pictures – she’s even more stereotypically a gay fave than Babs. Meet me In St.Louis, For Me and My Gal, Easter Parade, The Pirate, Summer Stock, her version of A Star is Born, The Harvey Girls – all spectacular entertainment.
