This just goes to show you that a shitty day can become even shittier. Before, I didn’t even have a reason to be upset, but now it’s come to my attention that Maurice Sendak passed away today at 83 years-old. The openly gay (and openly awesome) author was the genius behind the classic children’s book Where The Wild Things Are.

Sendak’s work and illustrations were a direct influence on me as an artist (something I don’t talk about often on here). Where The Wild Things Are was not only one of my favorite books as a kid, but a story I would revisit time and time again.

I apologize for talking about myself so much in this post. There’s just something about Sendak’s death that feels very personal to me, like I’ve lost a small part of my childhood. Going forward, I can only hope that Sendak is remembered for the legend that he was, is and will continue to be.

Words can not express how excited I am about Game of Thrones‘ second season. As I make my way through the final pages of George R.R. Martin‘s A Clash of Kings (the second book in the series, for all you non-nerds), I’m gearing up to see all of these characters come to life on my television screen.

Perhaps most importantly, I’m anxious to see more of Renly Baratheon. Those of you who watched the first season might remember Renly, as played by deliciously bearded actor Gethin Anthony, from this scene that never ever happened in the books.

Judging from the character featurette you’re about to watch (or not watch), the show will take some liberties and fill in details within the plotline of Renly, Loras and Margaery Tyrell. To translate without providing any major spoilers? This is a good thing. Trust me.

I don’t expect any of you to watch all 11:54 minutes of Minnesota Timberwolves player Kevin Love reading The Cat in the Hat, but you should at least witness the way he says the word “wet” over and over again. Seriously! In terms of oddly erotic readings of Dr. Seuss, this puts Tim Tebow‘s take on Green Eggs and Ham to shame.

Look, you can call me crazy all you want, but you’ll be changing your tune when I premiere the highly-edited dirty talk version of this video (tentatively titled “Kevin Love Whispers A Love Letter To My Taint”). It’s gonna be great! Absolutely great.
