“Cómo puedes vivir contigo mismo?” is Chilean singer Alex Anwandter‘s tribute to the 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning. For those who don’t speak Spanish, the title translates to “How can you live with yourself?”, a refrain repeated quite often over the song’s string-laden disco-house beat.
One could interpret this line as a representation of society. Alternatively, it can be viewed as an inner monologue of sorts, in which the narrator struggles to find balance between his so-called “sinful” identity and the “heavenly” feeling he gets from living as his true self.
Even if you don’t look into the deeper meaning, this is a fun song with an even-more-fun music video… So let’s all just shut up and have fun, okay?

As I read (and thoroughly enjoy) your music posts, I always hope that somehow the amazing Latin American indie music scene will make it into your consciousness. Alex Anwandter is an amazing artist (and I don’t use that word lightly), and I’m thrilled to see him here 🙂
