Exclusive Interview with Porn Star Conner Habib

You know how Oprah has been bragging about how her interview with Whitney Houston is basically the best thing she's ever done? Well, I'm going to be boasting for the next couple of weeks that my interview with porn star Conner Habib easily tramples any other interview I've composed for this blog (with no offense to previous interviewees).

Believe it or not, this is so much more than your average porn star interview, and I honestly can't take a single ounce of credit for that. Conner took my questions and churned out some fantastic answers on topics such as his career, blowjobs in straight sports bars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and anthroposophy. You've already got one degree, and now you're studying for another one. Philosophy, right? In
the newer crop of "up-and-cumming" porn stars, do you feel like brains are
becoming just as important as body? 

Yep – getting my MA in philosophy.
I don’t know about “brains”, exactly, but I do think that things are
changing rapidly and that viewers want to see personality in their
porn stars. I think the perfect body ideal is fading away – no one
wants the Starbucks-everything-is-served-up-the-same-way version of
porn anymore; that was a very '90s phenomenon that reflected the times
– and it’s in its final stages. 

As XTube and amateur porn become more and more popular and being in
porn is a lot more available, people have changed their ideas about
what’s sexy to watch. Since non-professionals have so permeated
everything, anything goes – and it all plays into people’s stories
about what’s sexy:
Bellies are sexy because they remind someone of his old chubby
neighbor, spotty facial hair is sexy because it connects to the
moments a guy was aroused in high school, a bedroom with posters on
the wall is sexy because it’s reminiscent of a sexual experience in a
similar-looking college dorm room – Everything starts to play into the
fantasy and expand what turns people on. 

In other words, muscles and big dicks are nice, but they don’t do it
for everyone anymore. We’re starting to get more real and honest and
individualized instead of just buying into what we’re told is hot. This is good news if it means we won’t play comparison games anymore –
we can just be who we are and like what we like. 

I’m happy that I get emails from fans all the time asking me about
anthroposophy or being a teacher or what books I like. I think it
plays into their arousal, and that’s a big leap forward in terms of
porn and sexuality being healthy and integrated into our everyday

You recently wrapped a shoot with Derrek Diamond. Tell us a little bit
about it! 

Derrek and I met at the GayVNs earlier this year when I hadn’t made
many movies – he was hot, friendly, and a lot of fun. The scene was
originally with another actor who I was also excited about; so when
Hot House said he canceled, I was disappointed…until they told me my
new scene partner was Derrek. 

The scene was awesome – Hot House has a
very different way of filming scenes than any other studio I’ve worked
for. It’s much more like making a real film (which I’ve done some
extra work in); very precise, and the end product is beautiful. 

We wrote about you and RJ Danvers facebook fucking a long time ago. The
two of you did a scene together with Ricky Sinz, but did you ever get to

No, RJ and I never got to it – but the scene was amazing! We did have

This is the first time I’ve ever been asked about books in an
interview, and I’ve gotta say, I’m speechless! Unfortunately, it’s
tough to read and fuck at the same time, so it would have to be one of
those baby books with the fluid-resistant pages. Or I suppose I could
read some scenes from Nicholson Baker’s hilarious book about sex and
innocence, The Fermata – it’s about a guy who can stop time and is
always horny. It’s all hetero, but some of the scenes in there are
really hot. 

We're going to take a wild guess that you're a Buffy fan. Who would you
rather–Spike or Angel? What's your favorite episode? 

I have to say I’m not attracted to Spike or Angel – Xander is pretty
hot though, especially when he gets big and chunky at the end of the
series. 

My favorite episode is “The Body” (where Buffy’s mother dies) – it’s
the most accurate depiction of grief I’ve ever seen on a TV show. But
I also like the one where they get trapped in the house by a spell and

Of course, I’ll think of my ten other favorite episodes once the
interview is posted and kick myself for not mentioning them. 

Speaking of Buffy, let's talk a little bit about angst. If you could eliminate one person from the world–in an attempt to make it a better place–who would it be? 

That’s tough, because there’s no way of knowing if the world would be a better place if I did that – often the people we think are making our lives worse are the ones that are the best at teaching us how to be better people. So no one, I suppose. 

Or, okay, if I had to, there’s this neo-pagan girl in San Francisco with a loud cackling laugh that I always get seated next to at restaurants for some reason. She’s fucking annoying. 

Was your first sexual experience fantastic or fantastically awkward? If
you're comfortable talking about it, please do. 

It was both hilarious and awkward – I was young – eleven, maybe, and
my friend and I had a drawing contest. Whoever drew the most awesome

world is struggling to not be a consumer brand.

itself is not hugely surprising. The thing that made it extra hot and
