In a world full of loneliness and shady shade, there’s nothing better than the knowledge that someone will be there for you no matter what happens, no matter what other people say. The chorus of Young Galaxy‘s “Pretty Boy” taps into this wondrous feeling, and it’s almost as if lead vocalist Catherine McCandless is some god-like figure singing directly to you. On a shitty day, sometimes this is exactly what you need to hear, even if you don’t have the right person there to say it to you.
Of course, the verses are a bit more personal and oblique, and I’m probably misreading the song in the worst way possible… But, hey, you’ve got to take what you need from music! This is going on my “grumpy day” playlist, and I don’t care if the disbelievers don’t understand.
