For those of you who aren’t in the know, Steve Martin is an accomplished musician beyond his extensive comedy and film career. (Also, he was a total fox in the eighties, but that’s a topic for a whole other day!) He won a Grammy Award for his 2009 album The Crow: New Songs for the Five String Banjo, and just this year, he teamed up with Edie Brickell to collaborate on their new project Love Has Come For You. Yes, the same Edie Brickell who’s married to Paul Simon. (She’s a rather accomplished musician on her own, however!)
To cut to the chase, Love Has Come For You is already one of my favorite albums of the year.
There is nothing “hip” or “cool” about it. Martin and Brickell aren’t trying to redefine the face of music or pander to anyone for the sake of sales. This is, quite simply, two adults coming together to make folk music with a touch of bluegrass influence, and it’s easily the most refreshing thing I’ve heard in a long, long time. Trust me! You might be surprised by how much you love this.

Thanks for this. Actually really like it! Perfect for driving in the car on a sunny day.
I like it!
Steve Martin is just all around awesome. Accomplished actor, art collector, musician, magician, writer… one of my favorite people.
I’m a huge fan of Steve Martin’s music. He was the final push that inspired me to learn the banjo, and at age 40, I’ve started down that road. I was very pleasantly surprised to see this post on this blog this morning. Awesome, awesome, awesome, and thank you for breaking away from the norm with this.
He’s still a fox in my book.
Banjo is sexy, Steve Martin is sexy, his music is sexy. Very cool.
