Now Presenting The 2009 MANHUNT Daily Song of Summer

Lady GaGa - LoveGame [SINGLE COVER]

Despite some fierce competition from Shakira and Kelly Rowland, pop's pants-less wonder Lady Gaga has taken the crown and claimed the title of 2009 MANHUNT Daily Song of Summer. Both of her entries "Paparazzi" and "LoveGame" made it onto the final top ten, but it was the longevity of the latter that led to its ultimate victory.

As we previously mentioned, David Guetta and Kelly Rowland's "When Love Takes Over" is still the Song of Summer in our hearts. But you did the voting, so I guess we'll have to settle for remembering this year for the summer of the disco stick. Congratulations to the Gaga!

So what becomes of these charts? Well, we're taking a break from voting for the Labor Day weekend, but this feature will continue along as MANHUNT Daily's Weekly Top Ten. If you didn't get a suggestion for your favorite song in last week, be sure to leave a comment for next time!

To check out the final top ten, follow the JUMP:

  1. Lady Gaga – LoveGame (231 Points): Don't look so surprised. She may have only hit the number one spot for two weeks, but this song has stayed strong for the duration of the chart's twelve week span. Despite almost facing extinction on numerous occasions, four final weeks at the number two spot sealed the deal.
  2. David Guetta f/ Kelly Rowland – When Love Takes Over (202 Points): It's no secret that this was a favorite of ours (and yours) from the start. Guetta and Rowland peaked at the number one spot from week five to seven, but slowly started to slip. If this song had managed to stay on for the last two weeks, it might have taken the title!
  3. Shakira – She Wolf (187 Points): Had this song debuted a little earlier in the summer, it's quite possible that Shakira could have (a)-wooed her way into the number spot. She closed the charts at the top and is currently the only artist who has achieved total domination for five weeks in a row.
  4. Britney Spears – Radar (121 Points): We quickly regretted the decision to add this song when crazy Britney fans flocked to vote for her. We love this jam, but it's so two years ago! And the video? Such a disappointment!
  5. Lady Gaga – Paparazzi (116 Points): Aside from Whitney Houston, Green Day and David Guetta, Lady Gaga was the only artist to have two entries in our summer charts. Out of those four picks, she was also the only one to have any success with both entries.
  6. Mariah Carey – Obsessed (86 Points): We've been using "I'm a press conference, you're a conversation" as our MANHUNT standard regret message since this song debuted, so we definitely don't agree with Mariah's label for completely disowning this as the first single from Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel. Then again, we still don't understand why they let her use that album name.
  7. Cascada – Evacuate the Dancefloor (58 Points): I was skeptical of this song at first, but many of you were persistent about getting it added to the list. Now it's become my late-summer guilty pleasure!
  8. Michael Jackson – Thriller (51 Points): Beyond our little world of man-for-man sex, there's been some debate that there is no song of summer, due to all the grieving over the King of Pop's death.
  9. Taylor Swift – You Belong With Me (33 Points): After her debut, Ms. Swift skyrocketed to the number two spot. Two weeks later? She was absolutely gone. We're not sure what kind of crack y'all were smoking when that happened.
  10. Miley Cyrus – Party in the U.S.A. (28 Points): Much like Shakira, this song's late summer debut crushed its chances for the top spot. If that video of those Fire Island boys came out back in July, we might have been singing a totally different tune this summer.
