Actress Anne Hathaway is ready to go over the rainbow as Judy Garland in a stage and film adaptation of the Gerald Clarke-written biography Get Happy. Whether or not Annie (I hear that's what her friends like to call her) pulls off this part, there's no denying that Ms. Hathaway is good for the gays.
Remember when she called out Barack Obama for his choice of Rick Warren? While her comments didn't manage to change the president's inauguration, she did manage to make a difference elsewhere.
Last December, Hathaway auctioned off a date with herself for $12,000 at a benefit for the Trevor Project (a suicide and crisis prevention hotline for LGBT and questioning youth). The bidder won "drinks somewhere fabulous" with her, as well as a promise that they would get "totally shitfaced".
And need I bring up her role in Brokeback Mountain? Despite a few missteps here and there, she's made some great decisions in her acting career. Hell, I'm willing to forgive her for Bride Wars as long as she works it out as Judy!
Big question: How do you think Garland's daughter Liza Minnelli will feel about this casting? I'm sure she won't keep her mouth shut much longer regarding the matter.

I’m intrigued. I’m not a big Judy Garland fan (I know, I know, I’ll have to give up my gay card and give the toaster oven back), but I would definitely be interested in seeing this.
