Is it safe to say that Rihanna‘s back? Her latest single has been picking up momentum on the pop charts, and she trampled the competition in our Weekly Top Ten‘s Wild Card round. Also, she’s moved up to the number two spot on the charts, coming dangerously close to stealing Kylie Minogue‘s coveted top position. Will we have a new champion in the near future?
It’s not entirely impossible, but that new champion won’t be Selena Gomez, Adam Lambert, Enrique Iglesias or Maroon 5. These four weren’t able to secure enough votes on the countdown, so we had to send them packing along with Wild Card rejects Sky Ferreira, Nadine Coyle and Akon. Better luck next time!
So how does this all work? If you’re a Weekly Top Ten virgin, take a swing at Ricky‘s hole while I explain the rules to you. Each week you’ll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you’d like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we’ll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week’s charts.
Wishing there was a “none of the above” option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it’ll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:
- Kylie Minogue – Get Outta My Way (LW – 1, W3): It looks like Kylie’s done it again! With that said, she shouldn’t get too comfortable. Tons of bitches are going to try to steal her spot, and she’ll need to knock them down like she always does.
- Rihanna – Only Girl (In The World) (LW – 3, W3): Do you know how many times this week I’ve secretly gayed out to this song? Just imagine me go-go dancing alone in my bedroom, wearing nothing but my underwear. That pretty much describes my entire week.
- Kelly Rowland – Rose Colored Glasses (LW – 7, W2): Ms. Kelly goes for a poppier direction with her latest single, and it looks like it’s working for her! Well, at least it’s working for you. The rest of the world doesn’t seem to be loving this as much as we do.
- Scissor Sisters – Any Which Way (LW – 4, W6): For five weeks in a row, the Scissor Sisters have been stuck in the number four spot. It’s almost as if you’re specifically planning to vote them there! Can they defy the odds and move up one or two spaces? Stay tuned in to find out!
- Florence + The Machine – Heavy In Your Arms (LW – 9, W2): Sometimes, your fabulous taste surprises us! We didn’t expect “Heavy In Your Arms” to last beyond the first week, but it seems your love for Florence + The Machine runs deeper than we imagined.
- Katy Perry – Teenage Dream (LW – 2, W9): As obnoxious as Katy Perry may be, we felt bad for her after her sex tape with Elmo leaked onto the internet. Therefore, we thought we’d give “Teenage Dream” one last chance to stay on the countdown.
- Joe McElderry – Ambitions (DEBUT): Since he’s a fellow lover of the cock, you know we had to put Joe McElderry on the charts! Hmm, isn’t that his X-Factor mentor in the tenth spot? Who do you think will receive more votes in the end?
- Rihanna – Who’s That Chick? (WILD CARD): It’s amazing that Rihanna’s Doritos jingle won the Wild Card round, especially given the poor audio quality of the leak. Let’s hope that this one doesn’t hurt the chances of “Only Girl (In The World)”!
- OK Go – White Knuckles (DEBUT): Honestly, we were going to give into the whole Nadine Coyle vs. Cheryl Cole drama, but then we decided to feature a legitimately good song instead. This one sounds like it’s straight out of Prince’s catalogue. Oh, and did we mention the music video is equipped with adorable puppies?
- Cheryl Cole – Promise This (DEBUT): Opinions have been divided on this track. Depending on who you ask, “Promise This” is either a complete hot mess or Cheryl Cole’s greatest solo track since “Parachute”. We’re not going to take sides, because let’s be honest–this is a complete hot mess and Cheryl Cole’s greatest solo track since “Parachute”.
LOVE MY RIHANNA!!
Rihanna, Kylie and Cheryl. Those are my favorites this week. I recommend for the Wild Card the new single by The Ting Tings. It’s called “Hands” and there is already a dance remix out there by Ralphi Rosario.
It’s good to see Cheryl Cole back here. I’ll go with The Tinb Tings for next week or the new Saturday’s single “Higher”.
Please take a look/listen to “Hands” by the Ting Tings and “In For The Kill” by Laroux. These are better than 1/2 the songs on here.
This chart has too much estrogen.
Rihanna all the way. Who’s that chick is a hot track. it definately has chart topping potential.
Rihanna and Kylie rule the chart. I like all the suggestions for next week. The La Roux is their new single in America. To add to the list I want to suggest Louder by Chris Willis. Another club banger produced by David Guetta.
Since I know none of the songs I might suggest for the Top 10 will be considered because they’re not of the Dance or Electropop genres, here’s a suggestion that I hope you’ll at least take into consideration…
How about having a weekly “guest blogger” feature for the Top 10? I know you currently give us the opportunity to post our comments after you post YOUR Top 10 (it’s definitely not my Top 10. The only song I like of these week’s choices is the Katy Perry song). But it would be cool to have a different member each week list their own personal Top 10 (which you could post after the “real” Weekly Top 10) with each guest blogger doing brief write-ups for each song like the ones you do…and include links to video clips of the songs. There are many out there whose Top 10s would be very similar to the one you post each week. But there are others of us whose Top 10s would be quite different. It would be a nice way to give people an opportunity to check out music that another voter is listening to other than the songs you feature in your “Aural Only” entries and your Weekly Top 10.
Just an idea…
has anyone there heard of Jacob Heal? he’s wicked hot AND as an added bonus he can sing.
he does a song thats called If You Can (So Anyway)
i’ve never seen marit larsen in the top ten either. she’s big in europe but unknown in the us or latin america. that’s a pity, since her songs are catchy and her voice so sweet.
I went with Scissor Sisters, Kylie and Cheryl Cole this week. The Saturdays’ new single is very catchy. There are 2 versions, one with the group and another featuring Flo Rida. There’s also a dance remix done by 7th Heaven, the guys behind “Get outta my way” and “Any which way” (the remixed versions).
Only one vote this week:
Teenage Dream – Katy Perry
The rest of the songs don’t really hold up…
I don’t know how much Canadian content you listen to, but the song “GHOST” by Febe Dobson is amazing and burning up the charts in Canada. She looks like a much younger janet jackson with a killer voice. The guy in the video is hot hot hot as well!
I also give the nod to “Hands” by the Ting Tings and whatever the new one is by LaRoux.
FEFE DOBSON all the way!!! Ghost is a killer track and the guy is hot in the video.
I also love the suggestion for more Ting Tings. The new video for the song HANDS is great and reminds me of old Kylie.
Not a huge fan of Laroux’s new single, but if radio started playing it more, i could see potential.
The Fefe Dobson track was on the Wild Card back in June or July. La Roux new single is also a new entry this week on the Dance Club Billboard Chart.
