In an interview with TV Page, Juan opined that gay people are “perverted” and that a gay version of The Bachelor would traumatize the children. Please, think of the children.
“Obviously people have their husband and wife and kids and that is how we are brought up. Now there is fathers having kids and all that, and it is hard for me to understand that too in the sense of a household having peoples… Two parents sleeping in the same bed and the kid going into bed… It is confusing in a sense.”
It’s confusing for you because you’re a dumb bitch. He had more to say.
“There’s this thing about gay people… it seems to me, and I don’t know if I’m mistaken or not… but they’re more ‘pervert’ in a sense. And to me the show would be too strong… too hard to watch.”
Juan Pablo is an American-born Venezuelan former pro soccer dude with an accent, so I’m sure he will pass this off as some sort of language snafu. In an ironic twist, ABC trumpeted about how he’s the first “minority” Bachelor when promoting this season.
Honestly, he’s not worth getting heated over. Slamming gays to get ratings for your TV show is trendy now. Unfortunately for the whores involved, it tends to backfire. So all you fake hillbillies and greasy gigolos sluttin’ for reality TV should move on to the next ratings stunt.

I wrote to ABC the other evening and told them I would no longer be watching the Bachelor and that I would urge everyone I knew not to as well. I also shared this with the nearly a thousand contacts I have on Facebook. He is entitled to his opinion, as twisted as it may be, but I am also entitled to respond as I wish. It is a shame what with all the positive programming that ABC broadcasts.

He really needs to try again. First of all, the “English-is-my-second-language” excuse isn’t going to play. He somehow managed to learn the word “pervert” well enough to think it applied to homosexuality, and felt comfortable using it in a sentence while being interviewed on a press junket while attempted to sound intelligent. His comment wreaks of Latino machismo and the attitudes towards gays that is so prevalent across South America. Secondly, I assume in his narrow mind, jacuzzi-hopping with a house of women who are vying for a relationship is completely okay for children to see: the man is the catch, the women the desperate hunters. How educational for today’s youth! That’s right little straight boys, grow up to be a soul-less attention seeking manwhore, and you girls–do whatever it takes to get you one. When I read that response and the use of the words thoughtless and insensitive I was surprised; usually networks tend to spin the comments or make a blatant statement that they are not connected to what was said. but, this time they were a little more pointed and publicly negative toward the dumbass, for which I was impressed. Just like comments about skin color, age, attractive or lame tattoos, you don’t get a pass from being called-out as a dick just because you were being honest.
