Weekly Top Ten: Pink Raises Her Glass In Victory

After the debut of her rambunctious new music video, Pink has stomped her way to the top of Manhunt Daily‘s Weekly Top Ten. She’s stealing the number one spot from eclectic dance diva Kelis, who swept the countdown for four straight gay weeks in a row.

Duffy didn’t receive enough votes to stay in the top five, so we had to kick her off the charts along with Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj and The Band Perry. In a surprise twist, only one Wild Card contestant didn’t make it onto today’s rankings.

So how does this all work? If you’re a Weekly Top Ten virgin, why don’t you vote for Gregory Verdoes on The Ten while I explain the rules to you? Not that I’m biased or anything… In any case, each week you’ll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you’d like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we’ll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week’s charts.

Wishing there was a “none of the above” option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it’ll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

– Dewitt

To check out the charts and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Pink – Raise Your Glass (LW – 2, W6): This victory is wrong in all the right ways. Or right in all the wrong ways. We’re not really sure, but we’re glad to see Ms. Alecia Moore in the number one spot. Can she stand up to the competition and maintain her ground? Stay tuned in to find out!
  2. Rihanna – Only Girl (In The World) (LW – 5, W – 9): In a surprise turn of events, Rihanna has lasted longer on the charts than Kylie Minogue’s “Get Outta My Way”. We guess it took a while for Rihanna to win back the fans she abandoned on Rated R? It’s impossible to say.
  3. Katy Perry – Firework (LW – 7, W2): If I’m not allowed to make fun of this music video, can I at least make fun of the song? Plastic bags, people! Plastic bags. That’s like the worst metaphor in the history of pop music. Even so, it won’t stop Katy from stealing next week’s number one spot…
  4. Robyn – Indestructible (LW – 3, W4): I’m still baffled that American radio stations don’t play Robyn. Or maybe they do? I haven’t listened to the radio in weeks, but she’s definitely nowhere near Billboard’s top ten songs. How does La Roux make a successful pop crossover, yet Robyn’s stuck on the backburner?
  5. Kelis – Scream (LW – 1, W6): Is it a coincidence that Kelis fell four spots immediately after we called attention to her suspicious winning streak? Oh, we’re not going to point any fingers, but there’s something odd about this situation. Then again, we love Kelis, so we’re not gonna bitch and moan about it.
  6. Nelly Furtado – Night Is Young (LW – 8, W2): Nelly Furtado’s post has been updated with the music video for “Night Is Young”, so you can click the link to the side and check it out. Will the additional visuals help her break onto the charts? We doubt it, but stranger things have happened in the past…
  7. Christina Aguilera – But I Am A Good Girl (WILD CARD): We’ve heard various stories about Christina Aguilera acting like a total bitch, but we’re willing to forget them all if she keeps delivering performances like this. Although we’ve heard this isn’t the lead single from Burlesque, we’d argue that it should be.
  8. Mariah Carey – Oh Santa! (WILD CARD): Is it a new classic? Or will we forget about this by the time Christmas comes around? The debate has begun, as Mimi’s loyal lambs shout in favor of the former argument. Of course, no matter what they say, this will never live up to “All I Want For Christmas Is You”.
  9. Amy Winehouse – It’s My Party (WILD CARD): The delivery may be a little woozy, but we love the contrast between the wholesome original track and this slightly scattered version. For some reason, we find it much more believable for Amy Winhouse to break down in the middle of her own party, as opposed to Ms. Lesley Gore. Speaking of which, did you know she came out as a lesbian back in 2005? How did I miss that?
  10. Ricky Martin f/ Joss Stone – The Best Thing About Me Is You (DEBUT): As the lone male contestant, we have a feeling Ricky Martin will receive more votes for his sex appeal than his actual song. Not that we’re complaining anything. We’d love to see him on top of… um, us.

  1. But I’m gonna love you like I’ve never been hurt before
I’m gonna love you like I’m indestructible

  2. I voted for Robyn, Nelly and Christina. The only reason Nicole Scherzinger’s song didn’t make it to the Ten is because all the other choices Dewitt displayed throughout the week were lackluster. My suggestion for next week is the third single from the album Head First by Goldfrapp. It’s called “Believer”. And the singer also came out a while ago, how did I miss that? The director of the video is her partner.

  3. I voted for Ricky Martin because I thinks it’s a good song and I am happy to give him support now that he is open and proud of his sexuality.

Mariah Carey has once again given us an extremely fun and festive holiday jam and I am looking forwward to Oh Santa saturating the holiday season.

I am very happy that the poll is fixed this week and I could actually give a vote to Katy Perry and Firework. This song is the definitation of what a hot pop song is supposed to be!

  4. I second the suggestion for the new Goldfrapp single. I also want to recommend “Gotta be somebody” by Shayne Ward. He was the runner up on the second series of X-Factor.

Another suggestion is since the year is coming to an end why not create a separate Top Ten to select the best songs of the year. I know Kylie, Gaga, Kelly Rowland, Kelis and Robyn would fit there very well.

  5. Here’s the link to the Goldfrapp video. It was shot during their tour ealier this summer and the director is Lisa Gunning, a film editor who’s now dating Alison Goldfrapp.

I voted for Christina Aguilera, Nelly Furtado and Robyn.

My suggestion for next week is “Better than today” by Kylie Minogue. The third single from Aphrodite. I know there’s no video out yet, but it will be soon as the official release of the single will be in the second week of December in the UK.

  6. It’s good to see P!nk on top and to have a new #1. Sorry Kelis. My suggestion for the Wild Card is the new Natasha Bedingfield song “Strip Me”.

  7. Hell yah! Go P!ink. 🙂 I gave Raise Your Glass a few more listens and it definitely is addicting. Love Katy’s song just as much.

  8. “Like a plastic bag” is a simile not a metaphor, Dewitt. If you’re going to bash her song, at least give us the illusion that you have something between your ears.

  9. Lol… I hate to point it out, but similes are a kind of metaphor.

All similes are metaphors, but not all metaphors are similes.

I voted for Katy and Nelly. I’m really hoping Katy grabs number one next week, although Pink is looking pretty damn unstoppable! Raise your glass is a great song too.

I second the suggestion of including Kylie’s newest song in the weeks to come. =]

  10. Where is “Stuttering” by Fefe Dobson? I thought it was going to be included. It is way better than any of the wildcard entries!

  11. Correct me if I am wrong, but I watched Nelly Furtado’s video and I think I did spot Fefe Dobson in a cameo towards the end playing a DJ at the party where everyone’s at.

  12. I am going with two dance tracks as suggestions for next week:
    – Swedish House Mafia vs. Tinie Tempah: Miami 2 Ibiza
    – Tim Berg Feat. Amanda Wilson: Seek Bromance (the most homoerotic and bi-curious music video I’ve ever watched).

  13. How about some Ke$ha – “Sleazy” or some Rihanna feat. Drake – “What’s My Name” for next week?

  14. How come the Black Eyed Peas “The Time” is not on the countdown? By far the best dance track this season.

So my suggestions for next week are:

Black Eyed Peas – The Time
    Fefe Dobson – Stuttering
    Bruno Mars – Amazing

  15. I also second The Black Eyed Peas – The Time.

I also like Better Than Today by Kylie, but her official website says it is not released until Dec 9th.

Stuttering by Fefe would be another choice.

I love Bruno Mars – it is actually called “Just The Way You Are.” Peeps think it is called Amazing but its not. It is a gorgeous song with awesome lyrics and fantastic remixes

  16. 1. Just The Way You Are – Bruno Mars
    2. The Time – Black Eyed Peas
    3. Forgiveness – Sarah Mclachlan
    4. Better Than Today – Kylie Minogue
    5. Stuttering – Fefe Dobson

I am new here. These are just my thoughts for great songs.

  17. Cool list!
How come Ke$ha’s not in it!?

    Cannibal by Ke$ha
    Hands by The Ting Tings
Love The Way You Lie, Pt. II by Rihanna feat. Eminem
    Grenade by Bruno Mars
