I remember when The Pussycat Dolls first came onto the music
scene I paid very little attention to them. Not until they had
a handful of big hit songs did I take notice. I just thought it didn’t make sense for them to have 6 members (5 members now) and
only one sing lead aka Nicole Scherzinger. However with Doll Domination, the other girls do sing background on several tracks.
When I heard their infectious first single “When I Grow Up,” I knew automatically that the clubs
and radio would eat it up, and that they did!
The second single "Whatcha Think About That," features
Missy Elliott and is a radio-friendly, enjoyable up-tempo track. A stand out and favorite track of mine is "I Hate This Part," it’s a nice heartfelt mid-tempo ballad that
just so happens to be one of album’s best tracks.
They worked with heavy hit producers such
as Rodney Jerkins, Timbaland, Missy Elliot and Polow Da Don just to name a
few. The album is an eclectic blend of various genres, but they never stray too far from the pop sound that we all know and love.
All in all, Doll Domination is a much better album than I thought
it would be. The production is excellent and there is a perfect blend of
tracks. In fact, there is not one dud amongst the generous 16 songs. If you are
into pop music, this is the album for you.
