Paste Magazine describes indie darling Joanna Newsom's latest album Have One On Me as "the finest two-hour, harp-driven, three-disc opus of the year." Obviously, this declarative statement isn't saying much, considering that nobody else will ever attempt such an ambitious and slightly pretentious achievement. Yet Newsom somehow gets away with shit like this.
Though most listeners won't have the patience to sit through its entirety, the sound of Have One On Me is ironically much more accessible than previous projects. The vocals remain consistently smooth, making up for the jarring "nails on chalkboard" moments of her debut The Milk-Eyed Mender. While it's far from easy listening, there's a whimsical other-worldliness to it all.
NPR is currently streaming the whole album, and it's advisable to give it a whirl before committing to your purchase. If you're unfamiliar with Newsom's catalogue, you should be able to tell within the first minute or so if you can handle her sound (though some would argue that she's an acquired taste).

I saw the movie and he’s actually better looking and he sounds older on film. And yeah, I thought he was cute even before this was posted. I definitely think he’s hotter than the Potter kid.
