I think most of us know that "ex-gay" is a complete farce, but there are some who believe it can happen. Well, the leader of Exodus International is admitting the obvious: No, it's not possible to stop being gay.
In his new book, Leaving Homosexuality, Alan Chambers writes that self-denial is indeed a major part of being an ex-gay.
In an interview with Citizen Link he elaborates:
"For so long I’ve heard gay activists say to me, 'You’re just in denial. You’re not grasping the reality of the situation. You’re just denying who you really are.' The truth is, I am in denial, but it is self-denial. I’m not in denial of who I used to be. I’m not in denial of the temptations that I could still experience. I am denying the power that sin has over me."
So there you have it, he's still tempted but just too anti-sin to give in. If he only knew what he was missing! I feel sorry for the (likely sexually frustrated) woman who married him.
This is a personal decision of course but Chambers also influences thousands of people through his organization, so it's not like he's of no consequence. Can you imagine their retreats? I picture at least one gay orgy a night, which might tempt me to sign up.

I think this guy is courageous and honest – one of the few such people I’ve seen involved with the ex-gay ministry. He’s basically choosing the life he wants. His wife is apparently fine with it. They’ve managed to have kids together, and it seems to be working for him. Good for him. I’d say the same thing about three guys who have decided to have a 3-party LTR. If it works for them, great.
