I saw a trailer for a new movie about coming out and a father-son relationship that actually looked pretty good, so I thought I'd share. The movie, La Mission, stars Benjamin Bratt and was directed by his brother.
There are lots of cheesy coming out movies out there, but this one seems like it could be worthwhile. I also just love movies that are set in the 70's…
So check out the trailer and let me know what you think.

looks good! but it’s definitely set modern day… they have computers…
Bratt made a big point today on the View stressing that this movie is not exclusively about the gay character. He described it more as a story of latino life in the mission neighborhood of San Francisco. He also made another point that I did not completely catch. Something about someone asking him why the gay character had to be gay saying that he would rather that character be a drug dealer. Nice. Very nice.
Finally!!! I was scared that Brokeback Mountain was going to be the only american gay film with good writing, great acting, good editing and great direction. I can’t recall any other american films that come close to it. This one looks very promising.
I would like 2 see this movie ( I bet it won’t get a wide distribution )
Looks interesting. Please let us know when it on DVD.
As a gay hispanic male, I have absolutely NO desire to see this film. I did live near SF and this movie is definitely set in 2009…it may be 1970s in the movie, but the Mission/Castro is JUST as ghetto as it was back then……….plain and simple…NASTY.
