Rocco, thanks for taking time out today for this interview! How’s your day going so far?
It’s going very well. It’s raining here… I love rainy days in NYC.
Nice. I bet it’s great to be back in the city for a while. Your travel schedule has been pretty busy over the summer, right?
Yes, it’s been crazy busy but all good. I have been so fortunate to work so much in the last 4+ months since I started porn. I have been to Europe and the West coast quite a bit, and I’m returning to London this month. So yeah, it’s really nice to be home in NY catching up with friends and hanging out with my dog.
Your start in porn has been explosive, and you’ve been in lots of scenes already. Lucas Entertainment. Ray Dragon. Raging Stallion. Tim Tales. Butch Dixon. Raw Fuck Club. Treasure Island Media. Which scene has been your favorite so far?
That is tough, because there are different things about many different scenes that I’ve really loved. I recently did a scene for Raging Stallion, and I have to say that it was my favorite for many reasons. First of all, it’s a bigger studio and being able to work for them was exciting for me. Secondly, I worked with three other models, all of whom were ridiculously sexy and hot. The chemistry between all of us was amazing, so it made the scene that much hotter. And finally, the scene was really well-directed, so what we actually got to do was fun and hot.
So have any studios talked about making you an exclusive yet?
No, and I don’t think that will happen on either end. I don’t think I am really “exclusive” material, and that is okay. I am really enjoying being a free agent, because I get so much amazing experience with so many directors and producers. I would never get to take off to Europe whenever I wanted if I was an exclusive. That is my favorite part of all of this.
That’s a good point. You’d probably just end up doing a bunch of club appearances instead of making your own schedule.
Exactly. And because I am sober for almost 16 years, I don’t really do the clubs or nightlife anymore. I had my day, and now I’m perfectly content being an early to bed, early to rise kind of guy these days.
You’ve also done a scene or two with the iconic Joe Gage. How was that experience?
I love Joe. He is a very smart man, and he definitely knows what he wants in a film. I learned so much working with him. He brings so much experience with him, so I just listen to everything out of his mouth. He is very gentle as well, so although he is demanding, his approach and tone is very supportive.
That’s the mark of a true professional. Speaking of someone who knows what he wants, in most of your scenes you’re portrayed as the strong, alpha male — the “daddy”, if you will. Rentboy has even coined you the “ultra daddy”. What are your thoughts on that? Do you embrace it?
I definitely do, and I am flattered. I noticed that as I proceeded through my 40s, I increasingly became referred to as a “daddy”. My friends and I all experienced it, and we joked about it but all loved it. Being able to bring this persona to my videos allows me to bring something different to the table. I am not a 20 or 30-something. I am 40-something, and I am not built like the younger kids. I embrace my body and my persona, because there is a demand for it. For that, I am grateful.
There’s definitely a demand! Do you think you’d ever do a scene where you’d play more of a submissive role?
Hmm, probably not. It’s just not me. People say “Oh, maybe you can bottom for your last scene,” but I don’t think even that would happen.
Here are my thoughts on that: I want to be proud of everything I put out there. I have not been proud of everything to date, and the reason for that is that I was uncomfortable in the scene for whatever reason. The viewers do not want to see Rocco “phoning it in” if you will. They want to believe that I am really enjoying every minute of what I am doing. They are paying a lot of money to see that, and they deserve it. If I was in a submissive role and/or bottoming, it would feel so unnatural for me that the scene would be insincere and I would not be at my best.
I don’t really see why viewers (and commenters) have this thing against total tops and wondering when they’ll bottom. Granted, MEN.com has made a whole series out of this premise, but it still strikes me as odd. Why take someone out of their element?
I totally agree. I think I would lose a good portion of my fan-base if I bottomed even once.
Let’s talk about your fan base. What do you think your fans would be most surprised to know about you?
I think they would be surprised to know I’ve never really been in a long-term relationship. I am currently single and have been single most of my life. I don’t look at this as a sad thing, as I have just been doing a lot of work on myself most of my life and really was incapable of being in a relationship. I think I’m almost there.

I know you started out escorting a few years ago and from there went into porn. Do you see yourself being in the industry for the next few years, or will it be on to the next creative endeavor?
I plan to do porn for maybe a year. I have been hitting it hard lately, because I know my time is limited by choice. I plan to taper off in the months ahead as I am working on starting a business (unrelated to the industry), and I hope to launch that late spring. I imagine, as with any new business, it will take some time to grow, so I will still probably shoot a scene here and there while I’m working on my business.
