If you've followed my discussion posts for the most recent cycle of America's Next Top Model, you're likely aware that I'm pretty obsessed with the overall winner, Nicole Fox. I was thrilled when Tyra Banks announced her victory, because it wasn't just a win for her. It was a win for all the other awkward bitches in this world.
Now I'm not much of a fashion nerd, but I have heard of this guy called Alexander McQueen. You can't even imagine the squeal of delight that emerged from me when I woke up this morning to discover that Nicole has been hired as the face of his spring/summer 2011 collection. This makes her the first ANTM winner to land an international campaign.
It's hilarious that it's taken ANTM thirteen cycles to finally gain some legitimacy, and it's happened as a result of Tyra's stunt of only allowing short models to compete. I used to laugh at how badly some of these girls wanted to win the show, because they didn't seem to realize that they'd fade into obscurity within a week or two. I mean, does anybody remember Saleisha Stowers? Didn't think so. Kudos to Nicole for breaking the (pardon the pun) cycle and making big things happen!
