Back in 2007, As the World Turns showed the first gay kiss on a daytime soap when Noah (Jake Silberman) locked lips with Luke (Van Hansis).
Now, the same soap opera has bumped things up a notch. The same two characters were recently shown in bed, with the sheets rumpled, post-screw.
The actual monkey love was not shown, but since this level of intimacy had never been shown on a soap, it was a significant step (good or bad) in the portrayal of homos on TV.
Does anyone else remember watching The Brady Bunch? Florence Henderson and Robert Reed actually slept in separate beds because it was taboo to show even a straight couple in the same bed.

Uh, actually they shared a bed. It’s often thought of as the first t.v. series in which a couple slept in the same bed. Although this is untrue, television’s first sitcom was actually the show to break this barrier.
But, after that t.v. execs must have gotten a little too aroused, as most shows afterwords had the roommate setup, such as I Love Lucy and the Honeymooners.
G’day!
Um the Brady Bunch debuted in 1969 while I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners were 50s shows…Actually, you’re both right. When Brady Bunch premiered, they were in separate beds but further into the series, Mike and Carol were shown talking in the morning after waking in the same bed (after all it was the 70s LOL)
