It drives us crazy that we somehow missed Goldfrapp‘s latest single “Believer”. The music video came out back in August, shortly followed by a remix EP on iTunes. While the clip isn’t anywhere near as exciting as the vampires and leotards from “Alive”, it doesn’t change the fact that this is still one of the best songs from Head First.
Plus, there’s a story behind it! The video’s compiled by lead singer Alison Goldfrapp‘s partner Lisa Gunning, who threw together footage from various tour dates across the world. Wait, hold the phone! Alison Goldfrapp came out as a lesbian?
Well, not quite. “I think of everything as being about a person and a relationship,” she told The Times. “And I am in a wonderful relationship with a wonderful person. It just happens to be with a lady…I’ve always found it claustrophobic to think about having to put things into categories like that. My sexuality is the same as my music and my life. Why does it need a label?”
We know, we know! This is kind of old news, but it’s an interesting response to the big “gay” question. Hopefully, Alison doesn’t mind us categorizing her latest tune, because we’re going to slap a giant “awesome” label all over it. Whether she likes it or not.

Better late than never. It looks like “Believer” didn’t make an impact in Europe since it’s been out for a while, but it’s a great track and made me go back and listen to the full album.
You know, I like Goldfrapp okay, but this track is just…meh…to me. Nothing all that memorable, except the repetitive chorus.
I love Goldfrapp, such beautiful musicians with a soul that is seen throughout every song they create. Can’t wait for the new album!
Well, I like the chorus and everything else about this song. It’s more fun than some of the crap playing on the radio these days. I guess Goldfrapp is an acquired taste and I prefer if it stays that way.
I totally love Goldfrapp and I’m digging this track. Get it in the countdown this week to replace that silly Mariah Christmas song.
one of my all time favorite !!perfectly crafted song !!
She’s so awesome!!! Glad I saw her in NYC. Her male fans are really cute too :^]
I really do like Goldfrapp, they are original and create sonically wonderful music. The only thing that keeps me from being a diehard fan is the chorus’ on this last album. After some wonderfully textured verses, these chorus come in rushing in out of nowhere; even a build up could not work for me. Its kind of like what happened to Madonna’s music with Hard Candy (The Devil wouldn’t recognize You being the only exception).
