Every indie gay in my social circle swears by the name of Kevin Barnes, so there’s been a decent amount of pressure to feature Of Montreal‘s latest single “Coquet Coquette” on the pages of Manhunt Daily. Prepare yourself for a totally weird music video.
This song acts as the first single from the group’s tenth studio album False Priest. The project will be officially released next month, and it’s said to include guest appearances by Janelle Monae and Solange Knowles. Anyone else excited to hear this?

Hmm, I’m a big fan of indie (loosely termed) and love bands like Two Door Cinema Club, Friendly Fires, Cage The Elephant, Paddingtons, etc. and have tried to get Of Montreal each time they release something new, but they just don’t do it for me at all. At all. Maybe the guests will spice things up and I’ll find two songs to enjoy, but kinda doubt it.
They did a duet last month on late night TV with Solange. I guess they want to get more mainstream.
This is an ATHENS GEORGIA band!. Awesome in the tradition of highly entertaining quirky and diverse. Much better in a live show than in studio.
I’ll be sad if they turn mainstream.
Then again one of their songs was used in an Outback Steakhouse commercial lyrics changed of course.
I’ll stick with:
Coquelicot Asleep in the Poppies: A Variety of Whimsical Verse
The Sunlandic Twins
Satanic Panic In the Attic
The Bird Who Continues To Eat The Rabbit’s Flower
Not that anyone cares haha.
The are playing in Tucson (where I live) on October 31st! What better way to celebrate Halloween!!!
