Ok, can we take a minute to talk about the fact that The Backstreet Boys will be the main performers at this year's San Francisco Pride. We're pretty sure their motivation isn't money, so either it's an attempt to get into the gay market or maybe they actually care about gay rights?
Since I never heard much from them about pride, I'm guessing it's more of a calculated career move… especially since I had no idea they were still together. What do you guys think?

Don’t really care what the reason is. Just hope it’s the beginning of a trend. Artists/bands/performers with a huge gay fan base demonstrating their appreciation or support by going to pride events and the like.
Even if their motivation is money, it’s a good business decision all around. For the fans and the group.
wasn;t one of them gay?
lance bass right?
but he left, no?
would have been a good reason otherwise.
still cool, regardless the reasons.
uhh werent there 5 of them??
it’s four of them now! And the article says that they approached the PRIDE committee! So thats pretty cool indeed!
Most boy bands have/had a big gay following, N’Sync, Westlife, Take That, you name it. I have no problem with them moving on to the ‘gay market’ as their mainstream market is shrinking. It’s not like they were all ‘Christian/family value/Jesus take the wheel’ back in the days when they were a huge act. And c’mon, Nick Carter still look pretty damn hot, even after Paris Hilton. 🙂
Bass was in ‘NSync. That photo doesn’t look how I remember them…. is that just a group of guys or what?
they probably can’t get any other work
It’s probably because they know the gays are the only ones with horrible enough taste in music to actually still be listening to them.
Say what you will, they’ve still got it. I caught the Singapore leg of their world tour, and it was the least artificial concert I’ve been to in years. No pre-recorded backup vocals, live DJ, freestyling 90’s harmonizing. It was total fanservice, and it was a hell of a lot of fun.
The timeframe of the market has risen on the fact of gay based marketing. Most artists are on the bandwagon due to the volume of sales from the gay clientel.
