Batman has long been rumored to poke Robin in his bat cave, but it's only been speculation. Now DC Comics has a confirmed gay superhero – Batwoman!
"With Bruce Wayne 'elsewhere' (and that's all DC is saying about that), 2009 will see its first lesbian superhero in its longest running book as Batwoman takes over Detective Comics.
DC super-writer Greg Rucka and artist J.H. Williams will be taking over
the reins of the flagship title for "at least" twelve issues."
This sounds like fun, but I wonder if comic book readers will take to her. Do you think more people would rather read about a male or female gay superhero?

What’s the deal, guys? Like the Titanic 2 trailer, this is OLD NEWS. She’s been in comics, as a confrimed lesbian, for some time now.
…I realized after reading carefully that you don’t actually say this is her debut, but you sure make it sound that way.
The real news, at least as I gather from your story, is that she is essentially going to be the headliner in one of DC’s biggest titles for a while( Batman’s dead, at least for a bit, so his various series are being temporarily taken over or replaced by other Gotham City heroes – rumors persist that when he comes back, Bruce is retiring). I don’t think any other openly gay superhero has had more than a limited series or backup feature.
