If you’re all allowed to jizz over Chris Messina queening out to Aaliyah, then I’m just going to say what’s on my mind—voguing is damn sexy. It takes practice, talent and massive control over your body to pull off those moves, and while I’d be lying if I said I’m deeply immersed in ballroom culture, I’ve come to both admire and respect the community, as well as its influence on modern-day pop culture. There are few other styles of dance (I can think of) that combine both sensual and aggressive movements into one cohesive set. It’s truly remarkable when done well.
Why the hell am I bringing this up? Because I was absolutely stunned by the gorgeous man in Canadian band Metric‘s new music video for “Lost Kitten”. Shot in Mexico City, the narrative follows our lead character as he embarks on a quest to find his house mother. The role’s played by Toronto drag queen Tynomi Banks who, I would just like to reiterate, looks really hot out of drag.
It’s almost enough to make up for the confusion that Metric’s releasing this video nearly a year and a half after their album Synthetica came out. Not that I mind or anything! “Lost Kitten” was one of my favorite songs to emerge from the project, so it’s nice to see it finally getting the single treatment.
