How did we miss this video? Upon hearing about all the negative responses to his two-part interview on Manhunt Daily—particularly against the giant joint in his hand—model Benjamin Godfre took to YouTube and filmed a follow-up for his fans. Here’s a brief snippet of what he had to say:
“Yes, I fucking smoke weed. Okay? I use it a lot. I’m a medical marijuana patient in California. It’s legal for me to have it. If I wanna buy the product or the medicine, I simply walk two blocks down to the street, and I go in with my papers and I buy it… It’s far better than drinking. I mean, I’m not gonna smoke a bowl and then go kill someone and smash my car into a tree.”
We exchanged a few brief e-mails with Godfre after the backlash. He seemed pretty confused, given that his fans were thrilled with the interview. In fact, he went as far to ask, “Is Manhunt Daily a religious based website? Are you guys located in a really conservative region of the US or something?” We assured him that, while our readers’ political and religious views vary across the map, the only thing we all commonly worship is COCK.
Notably, Godfre holds his place as the number one contender on The Ten, our weekly countdown of the sexiest men. Either his fans aren’t as vocal as his critics, or you guys are secretly lusting after a man you claim to “hate”… Chill out?

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that I think any negative feedback needs to be directed more towards Manhunt Daily. There is this whole view of “If we tell you we do not encourage it we are int he clear” mentality – just like the whole Maverick Men issues people seem to have. While everyone has a right to a view promoting abuse or unsafe sex by posting the videos of people doing such things and then saying we don’t want you to do it does not make it better.
Ok well to each their own… I personally dont care if someone smokes weed that is their choice. I do not smoke weed or like getting drunk that is my choice. What is the big deal??

I didn’t mind the pot smoking AT ALL! I just didn’t see the high pitched girly voice coming, I mean, Ben looks like A MAN. and the voice was just, you know, voices are important. It can make you more alluring, or less so. In this case, it made him so less alluring.
If he wants to be a star, a speech therapist or vocal coach can teach him how to modulate, deepen, even slow down his speaking pattern so that his voice is not so off-putting.
He should consider it.
I like his style. Who cares if he smokes weed? You want him to just shut up and be pretty? Real healthy attitude there. Does the word objectification mean anything to these people? When the hot guy rejecting your advances, it’s not always because he’s an asshole. Sometimes it’s because you are.
I think this is an excellent opportunity for feeling some compassion for someone who has a serious enough medical condition (usually the pain associated with that condition) to qualify for medical marijuana! You GO Ben~!!! Do your thing~!!!

You are a very handsome man and I bet a great model, but my life is different and I am not overly into religion but I just lean toward more masculine guys. I find this criticism to be problematic. You should consider pushing aside your notion of deep voices and hyper-masculinity as some sort of virtue. People shouldn’t have to change who they are to become a “star”.
It always blows me away how narrow gay guys are about the whole “fem” thing. If you’re not attracted fine, but does it really do you that much good to be sure to let the whole world know? I think the backlash started the second he opened his mouth. There was just an air of douchey-ness to what he had to talk about. “Benjaminions”? Yeah, when I heard that, I moved on.
I’m 44 and just smoked my first joint about two months ago. It was kind of fun, certainly took the edge off. lol. I respect Benjamin for being unapologetic about his decisions.

Benjamin is quoted by saying, he has a medical excuse to smoke weed. The only people I know that can purchase weed legally are people suffering from Cancer and the disease that Montel Williams has. On the issue of his voice, I agree, he doesn’t come across masculine and he hold his hands up like some women do as they talk. However, he has a beautiful personality and he’s a gorgeous young man. Unlike the others on here Eli..I do agree. Voice does matter. I have been with a few guys in my life who could have passed for women when the lights went down and things got hot. Their octave just kept going up with their moans.

This was a set up interview, it’s not like they walked in his home with the cameras rolling and he just happened to be shirtless and was smoking weed. To not be able to not smoke during one little interview means he either has a serious addiction problem or he’s just a fool who thinks everyone will think he’s so cool. Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt both smoke, yet I challenge you to find me an interview during which they puff their shit to the camera.

I was looking forward to the interviews, to be perfectly honest. When I saw him lighting up, I instantly turned it off.

My only problem with if is the last statement of “I’m not going to smoke a bowl and then go kill someone and crash my car into a tree”. Ah yes you very well could! Marijuana, while legal in some parts, is still illegal to drive under the influence with. That’s one likely way to get a DUI (driving under the influence)….it’s not just the influence of alcohol, all mind altering drugs, legal or illegal, are included in that.
One would hope that people had better things to occupy their time then to sit in judgment of what someone else chooses to do. I live in Amsterdam so maybe I’m less uptight but I have NO issue with anybody smoking marihuana on a regular basis. I am acquainted with many professionals [including those in my field – I’m a lawyer] who regularly smoke marihuana for recreational purposes. It is insane that we (gay men) are extremely judgmental to anyone who slips out of our superficial standards. Who cares if he smokes or not, who cares if he drinks or not and who cares if he gay/bi/straight/black/white/asian/tall/short/fat/skinny or whatever. In short, he can be who he wants to be.
