Keepers at a bird sanctuary in West Sussex, UK are having a problem producing Blue Duck offspring. They're trying to mate Cherry, a female duck, with Ben or Jerry but neither is interested. Why? They don't need Cherry — B & J are perfectly content with one another.
According to the center's warden, Paul Stevens, "They stay together all the time, parading up and down their enclosure
and whistling to each other as a male might do with a female he wants to
mate with. It would have been nice to get a last clutch of eggs from Cherry but Ben
and Jerry do make a lovely couple."
