Bono-fied Chaz: On Our Watch List

I admit, I haven’t been giving the “Big O” enough of my time, lately. Let’s get our minds out of the gutter, people – I’ve barely even tuned in to Oprah‘s new network since it’s launch on Jan. 1st. This month, however, Becoming Chaz premieres and I for one can’t wait.

While I honestly can’t say I’ve ever felt like I’ve been trapped in the body of a member of the opposite sex, it’s interesting to hear other people’s stories about struggling with identity. The documentary film follows Chaz Bono‘s transformation from Chastity and, judging from the promo, will surely include lots of cheesy footage from his less-than-humble beginnings on stage with Mom & Dad as well as some quotable gems from you-know-who.

After viewing the film, Cher is quoted as saying “I admire my son, Chaz’s courage for sharing his personal journey… Most important to me is that he is very happy…” A reaction that is very different from the epic “snap out of it” moment I’ve imagined when Chaz finally broke the news to his gay-icon Mom. I guess I’ll have to tune in on May 10 to see how it all went down!

  1. I truly have never figured out how these people “know” that they are the other gender trapped in the opposite gender body. If you’ve only been in this one body this lifetime, then you only know how you feel in this body. Maybe “this body” likes wearing girly clothes and having a cock. Cool. Doesn’t mean you were “supposed to be” a girl. It just seems like a big deal to think that you’re in the wrong body when the issue is most likely that you’re unhappy and pinning it on your equipment and all the past drama/trauma that you’ve endured. I guess I just love my cock too much to consider ever giving it up. Still, whatever works to make you happy…DO IT and don’t let anything or anyone stand in your way.

  2. About 10? years ago, I met Chasity at A Different Light Bookstore in West Hollywood, for her booksigning, and at the time she “seemed” happy. Had her sign her book for my lesbian sister (yeah, people are amazed that both of us are gay!!).

Now as Chaz, I commend him for being true to himself, working through all the difficult issues, facing the public scrutiny, and finally being happy. I can see the difference on his face.
