Sit your ass down, Madonna, and respect your elders! The eternal goddess known as Cher, a diva approved by Mother Monster, has finally released the music video for her comeback single “Woman’s World“, and it is ferociously fierce in ways I can’t even begin to describe! What other female pop entity, dead or alive, could rock a wig made of newspapers when she’s nearly seventy years-old? Katy Perry could never! Christina Aguilera could never! None of your faves could ever!
(But, to be fair, Lady Gaga could probably do it when she’s ninety years-old. Let’s be honest.)
It’s a testament to Cher’s enduring relevance that she’s still topping the dance charts and slaying her competition on the dance floor. Personally, I can’t wait to take a few lady friends to the club this weekend and empower them by singing this song into their vaginas! That is, of course, after we perform the full choreography to “Applause“.

She has a strong voice. Katy Perry and Gaga are nothing compared to this.
I love how Cher takes care of herself and still looks good. It’s a turnoff when younger stars like Britney and Lady Gaga go through waves of misguided acceptance of getting fat. Sure, that’s ok if you’re not a pop entertainer, or a different kind of pop entertainer. For this kind of act, is it really too much to ask that you take some pride in how you look? I know it’s not pc to talk about but so what.
Cher has the best makeup artists in the world (and I mean artists — it must take gallons of “paint” to get the 67 year old Cher to look like that.) She looks far more real than Madonna does in her recent videos. (Madonna looks relatively good without makeup, but Cher is a plastic surgery disaster area without her warpaint on.)

Come on – this is an awful video and a worse song. Love Cher, but waiting over a decade for new stuff and this is all she can do? With all that money and experience and voice and artistic direction, I was expecting a way better song and a much better video!!
Well… It is not one of her best songs, but it’s a lively one, and a great empowering message (i.e. the video – simplistic yet showcasing many women of the world).
True it could be a much MUCH better video; but it’s Cher, and in the end of the day we love her.

Are you kidding me? I have NEVER seen Lady Gaga fat! And Britney was never fat either! She was a little bigger when she had kids, but that’s a different thing! Christina, on the other hand, has gotten fat. She really has let herself go. But to say Gaga and Britney were ever fat is an extreme overreach!
“Take some pride in how you look.” Hmm. Let’s think about that. One, it’s not like Cher hasn’t had the assistance of a number of medical professionals in preserving the look that she now has. Two, is it a better sense of pride to accept that bodies change over time, as metabolisms change, as bodies age, as bodies produce children . . . or to try and force a body to retain a particular size, shape, ideal? Or, can we imagine that pride is about a certain kind of self-acceptance, or a realization that the shape of a body has, oh, I don’t know, absolutely nothing to do with the worth or value of a person or their ability to sing or perform or entertain. Maybe that kind of self-acceptance, maybe that kind of placing value on what is actually important, is something from which gay men could learn.
I *love* Cher. I’ve always liked her music (as powerfully autotuned as it is) and found her zany costumes and hairstyles all kinds of fun. I’ve never responded strongly to Britney or Gaga. But I respond even less strongly to fat hatred.

i get fucked all the time. you know as well as everyone else does that when youre hearing autotune it was because in 60 odd takes she couldnt actually hit the note, so she has been repitched by about 3 semitones or so. When people are tuned and they were fairly close to the note you cannot hear it
