Given that the basic premise of the upcoming action thriller Bullet Train puts a group of assassins on one train whose missions all connect somehow, you might not expect the first look at the movie to be so… relaxed. Yet here we are, with a hugely ironic sneak teaser, released under the guise of a promo video for Nippon Speed Line, which you can find below.
Of course, the presence of one William itt (who stars in the movie) as calm voice-over person is the first big clue that this has something to do with punch-up/bullet-fest specialist David Leitch’s latest. And, er, the whole bullet train thing. Yes, you probably got it from that. Pitt’s bruised and battered face near the end of the video also nods towards the madness to come.
With a script from Zak Olkewicz that adapts Kôtarô Isaka’s novel Maria Beetle, Bullet Train also features Brian Tyree Henry, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Shannon, Sandra Bullock, Logan Lerman, Zazie Beetz, Hiroyuki Sanada, Masi Oka and Andrew Koji in its cast, promising much contained action craziness.
As the video suggests, we can expect the full trailer next Wednesday and the movie itself is scheduled to pull into the cine-station on 15 July.
