I think my TV is still steaming from the season one finale of HBO’s homo-drama Looking. My relationship with the show has been lukewarm for the most part, but as a good gay, I’ve stuck with my new friends Patrick, Agustin and Dom.
In classic Brokeback Mountain and Kill Your Darlings style, Looking has added just a small bit of realism to bottoming. Sometimes, all it takes is a facial expression or a little saliva to really get things started.
Fans of Russell Tovey will definitely enjoy his ass’s cameo. Not to spoil the fun, I’m not saying who did what to whom, but I will say it was fap-worthy. I am proud to say, I am officially hooked and looking forward to season two.

This show starts off kinda slow but it really picked up momentum, and I have a feeling a lot of it had to do with Russell Tovey? Maybe I’m wrong. But, he’s hot/adorable as hell, and I think I shouted an audible “YES!” when they (finally) hooked up last night.
And if you watched the series Patrick has bottoming anxiety so his reaction and Kevin’s question is appropriate.

Well Princess… the kind that aren’t total heels. The kind that show bottoms being passive doesn’t have to hurt and can not only be pleasurable but also orgasm from being penetrated often without touching oneself. I enjoyed the first season of Looking. But one thing really bothered me. Will someone please teach Jonathan Groff how to eat food in a scene? He would take such huge bites of food and then try to deliver his lines and I couldn’t understand two-thirds of what he was saying. I had to rewind on just about every show when he was eating.
I have to agree that I stuck it out watching this show because I wanted to support it. I was disappointed in it at the start, and it really only grew on me slightly. I was only into Patrick and his storyline. Dom’s was realistic, just boring to me. Augustin I didn’t like at all. The character, the story, none of it. The sex scenes I found titillating in how realistic they were to how gay hook ups and gay sex are in real life, without being overly graphic. That is also one thing I disliked about the show. The sex scenes were great, but way too few and far between. I’m not saying it should be all sex, but considering how boring and slow the show tends to be at times, the sex added some life. Perhaps a bit more comedy, or faster pacing would help instead. That aside, I hope they don’t drop the ball on this storyline. I can’t wait to find out why Patrick was so easily willing to bottom for his boss, who has a boyfriend and shows no promise of being anything but a fuck buddy, but not willing to bottom for his own boyfriend? And was that Patrick’s first time as a bottom? or was he hesitant in the past because he tried it and didn’t enjoy it? Was there a condom used? The spit and slide technique makes me think it was raw, and this show didn’t shy away from unsafe sex in past, where Patrick’s boyfriend rimmed him and swallowed his load, no protection used or mentioned. I was a bit taken aback by it, but then realized that this show is aiming to be realistic, and regardless of what we say, that was how oral sex tends to go a lot. Very few people use protection for oral, and swallowing seems pretty common. I just hope these questions get answered when the show comes back.

He showed up in the third or fourth episode of Looking. Up until that point I had pretty much had enough of the main characters constant whining and self-inflicted drama. The whole show changed with his appearance and I finally had something to root for!
OMG can they just kill off the Augustin character already? They really haven’t given a reason for anyone to be his friend.
The web series Hunting Season is kind of what I expected to see in Looking but I can forgive it since Patrick and Kevin have electric chemistry.
Well, if a show wanted to show straight Americans just how boring gays can be… then looking is the perfect show. I apparently do not have the tolerance level most of you have.
But the cast is great, i look forward to seeing them in OTHER shows.
I first saw him in the movie version of The History Boys. Amazing movie. Give it a look if you feel the urge.
No, Eli, if anything it showed how relationships are the same no matter the gender. If you want a soap opera, go watch queer as folk. If you want a show that takes its sweet time to engross you, then watch Looking. I thought it was the most relatable show about gay guys that I had ever seen….. and I look forward to Season Two… what were you expecting? an orgy, a murder and a cliffhanger in a courtroom?
This show was so genuine and beautiful. I just finished it tonight and I absolutely loved it. The eye candy did hurt it either. And regarding Russell, I want to rape his mouth grabbing onto those ears!
Yeah and his character Kevin called Manhunt “Mancunt” in the show!
