A Daytime Emmy, but still it’s an Emmy! Chandler Massey plays Will Horton, the spunky gay guy on Days of Our Lives. It’s one of the few remaining soaps left breathing, and Will Horton’s coming out storyline has kept it afloat. Massey made Emmy history (Daytime Emmy history, but it’s still Emmy history!) last year by winning the Emmy for Best Younger Actor (weird category) playing a gay character. And this past Sunday he won again! Two years in a row!
Soap operas have “supercouples” which are main characters hooking up and making fans’ panties all moist (remember Luke and Laura?). Massey’s character Will and actor Freddie Smith’s character Sonny Kiriakis make up one of the first gay ones. They make out a lot.
Will has been through some drama! His mother Sami didn’t take his coming out well, he came out to his gay friend and ended up in love with him, the girl he was nailing before he came out ended up pregnant with his baby, the babymama’s homophobic boyfriend tried to deny Will his parental rights, he got shot trying to rescue those two from an evil ex-con. SHIT HAS GONE DOWN. The important part is a main character (a hot one) being all integral to the plot. And not just as some girl’s human purse. Will Horton has sex scenes with his lover! And runs around with his shirt off like all the other soap hunks. Go Chandler Massey!
Unfortunately, he’s talking about leaving the show. So say bye to Days of Our Lives.
Maybe he’s leaving cuz’ his character’s mother is batshit crazy? She sure does get slapped a lot. Seriously, I could watch Sami Brady clips all day. *sigh* I love soaps.

they are both hot!!!!!!!
So yummy š
Chandler and Freddie do such a great job on the show. They incorporate a lot of little touches to portray genuine affection within a gay couple. I really hope the producers of DOOL can find a way to accommodate Chandler if he wants to more aggressively pursue his education. I would hate to see the characters leave or be recast.
yes Daytime Emmy’s don’t hold the prestige of a Grabby or Slammy or Herpe …. (but it’s still an Emmy!)
I love my Herpe. My speech (in which I thanked all of the buttholes I’ve been in) was so moving.
Hurray for complicated and shirtless gay storylines and characters.
By the way, Dewitt, I think you just found your next “caption this”.
