Swedish indie-pop duo Club 8 thrive on their musical versatility. They’ve dabbled in everything from bossa nova to trip-hop throughout their career, inviting comparisons to Portishead and The Cardigans at any given moment (yet sounding nothing like either of those bands at any other given moment).
Labrador Records has deemed the pair’s latest project Above The City “their 8th and most brilliant album so far”. This will likely mean nothing to you if you haven’t heard their previous work, but hey, you might as well start listening now when they’re at their prime?
Start your journey off right with “Stop Taking My Time”, a dark electro number that sounds like The Knife playing seven minutes in heaven with Robyn, CHVRCHES and ’80s Madonna… Have I name-dropped enough artists to get you intrigued yet? I sure hope so. Writing about music can be exhausting sometimes.
