COOLRUNNINGS: “Chrysalis”

I have no idea what the dudes from COOLRUNNINGS look like, so here’s a picture of Ben Cohen promoting his new underwear line. Every purchase will benefit the (retired) rugby star’s StandUp Foundation, and the New York Times notes that “Ads will feature him in the briefs, looking freshly muddied from the rugby pitch”.

What does any of this have to do with COOLRUNNINGS? Absolutely nothing.

I’ve ignored this band for a while now, due to their ridiculous name. And if I had known, prior to listening, that they describe their new single as post-rad, guitarded and pro choice, I probably would have ignored it too… But it turns out they’re actually kind of good! “Chrysalis” is vaguely reminiscent of ’90s Radiohead. Vaguely. I guess? I don’t know. Listen to it and form your own opinion.
