After we talked about Lt. Dan Choi, yet another high ranking and highly decorated Lieutenant is being discharged under Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Once again, Rachel Maddow does a great job in covering the evolution of this policy, and interviews Lt. Col. Victor Fehrenbach.
Fehrenbach has been heroic in his 18 year long career in the military, and it's a shame he's getting fired just for being gay. Check out the video and let me know your thoughts on this horrendous policy.

Nice job with the final question – reminding all viewers that heroes come in every shape and size and we must be grateful for every one of them. Where the hell is our administration on this discrimination issue? If Obama lets this Air Force serviceman down, he will a hypocrite on exact par with all the Bush administration a-holes we just booted. Show some character Mr. President. Now!
good luck with that, on gay rights Obama has been nothing but a disappointment. but i guess he’s still got time, I mean it’s only been 3 months but at the same time he could easily stop enforcing this law with one signature.
you could see the pain in his eyes.. breaks my heart to see this glorified Hero to be discharged in such a way. We need strong and able people like him around.. wake up Mr, President if you dont save him you have lost the trust of many of us and joined the ranks of the many who didnt keep their promises.
Rachel is my new hero (heroine), what a clear-minded reporter…
and is it just me, or is the Lt. Col. extremely cute?
wonder if he is single…
good luck to u, Victor, could not think of a more appropriate name!
it’s sad, a guy that great and a government not to match… well on the bright side, he could always just become a model! he looks fantastic! he can still destroy men… just bend em over hahaha….
This policy definitely needs to be repealed. As a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a gay man that served my country prior to DADT, I feel that this policy has created more discrimination towards individuals that are gay. This country should be ashamed of the way it treats the men and women of the armed forces that put their lives in danger every day for the citizens of this nation to enjoy the freedom we enjoy. What difference should it make with whom they come home to at the end of the mission?
I am proud to be an American. Not so sure at times when something like this is allowed to happen by our Leaders. As a God Loving Country we are taught at a young age to be true to thyself. When we do,then we are judged by our sexual orientation.Trust me I know God as my personal saviour and I have a personal relationship with him.And yes I am a gay man of Faith.Just as I am God accepts me for who I am.Something is seriously wrong with this country if we allow this act.God is not pleased either. Many men and woman are faced with this everyday.Very sad to me.I pray this man and many others find victory in there journey of life. And pray our leaders learn what unconditional love is.They will answer for there doings in the end.God Bless our Men and Woman in armed forces.Be who you are and Love thyself.I am and I do.Thankyou all for reading this. And thankyou Manhunt for allowing me to post.
I think Rachel is a lesbian.
Hahaha…oh really, Ares? Nonetheless, Maddow does make one helluva cute twink even if she is a dolt.
Calling him a Lieutenant (“yet another high ranking and highly decorated Lieutenant is being discharged”) is about like calling you “a guy who types”.
A Lieutenant is one of the lowest ranks of officers (2nd LT, 1st LT) while a Lt. Colonel is one of the higher field command positions. Lieutenants have usually been in service for 1-7 years, while Lt. Colonels have been in for more than 20 (typically).
Symantics, possibly, but this shows that they are willing to lose long term, dedicated, and probably integral career members of our armed services over their like or dislike of the same sex.
To those of you who voted for Obama thinking he was going to change the world: are you getting it yet? Politicians LIE and tell you whatever you want to hear in order to get your vote! Sure, he’s only been in office for five months and yes, as Commander in Chief, he could eliminate DADT with the stroke of a pen, but frankly…I’m not holding my breath.
