Manu Ríos is breaking out of Élite.
Best known for playing the always chaotic Patrick on the hit Netflix series, Ríos has now landed a major movie role in the upcoming Pedro Almodóvar film that is being described as his “answer to Brokeback Mountain.” The working title for the movie is Strange Way of Life.
The director has famously said in the past that he thinks superhero movies should involve more sexuality than they currently do – so fans are expecting Strange Way of Life to be quite salacious in nature.
Before Ríos was cast, Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke had already joined the project. According to IndieWire, they’re going to play “a pair of middle-aged gunslingers at the center of a 30-minute Western.” Now, the Élite star will be starring opposite those two Hollywood A-list actors.
As the character of Patrick, Ríos has never been shy about showing some skin on Élite. Based on the director’s past films and comments to the press, many are expecting that Strange Way of Life won’t hold back when it comes to nudity and sexuality.
Besides Élite, Ríos recently appeared in the lead role of La edad de la ira, a Spanish series based on Nando López’s novel of the same name. This four-episode limited series didn’t land US distribution but aired on Atresplayer Premium in Spain.
Élite fans can now look forward to Ríos appearing on what can be argued as the biggest project of his life. Still, details surrounding Ríos’ role in the film has not been disclosed yet.
