Exclusive Interview With Gay Porn Redhead Steven Ponce

If you’ve only ever seen still photos of Steven Ponce, you might be surprised by his very sultry Puerto Rican accent. (The name’s kind of a tip-off, though: in British slang, ponce more or less means fag, but in Spanish it means prince; it’s also the name of one of the larger cities in Puerto Rico. Of course, if you’re familiar with the work of Steven Ponce, you’re probably used to hearing him whimper and moan quite a bit. He’s a very passionate bottom in most of his scenes, and I’m still kind of hung up on his work in Titan‘s 2009 extravaganza Telescope.

Hey Steven! How’s it going? How’s Florida?

The weather is amazing right now. It’s eighty-five and windy. There’s no humidity right now. It’s great.

Tell us a little bit about you and where you’re coming from.

I’ve lived in Florida for nine years now. Before that, I was in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is a really great place, too. The men are hot there, and it’s a great place to be if you’re a bottom. It was really fun.

You do seem to enjoy being a bottom.

I’m mostly versatile, actually!

You’re not very tall. Do people automatically assume that you’re a bottom because you’re short?

I’m 5’6″. Mostly everybody in porn is really, really short. That’s actually a good question, and I don’t know. Usually I expect taller guys to be tops, it’s true. But in real life, I like guys who are taller than me, and if they’re taller than me, then I like for them to be tops. If they have an amazing ass, though, then I’m going to go for it. Whoever it is.

So what’s going on with you? Have you got anything new coming out?

I always thought about doing it. When I was in Fort Lauderdale, I was working at an adult video store, and I met Michael Lucas. He asked me if I wanted to do porn, and I said sure. I started working out, and the next thing you knew, I had a contract. I had always thought about it, so why not? I started in 2006 or 2007? Oh my god, I don’t even remember. It goes by so fast. I enjoy it, though. Every single bit of it.

Are most people surprised that you’re Puerto Rican?

Oh, I get it all the time. They can not believe it until I open my mouth. It’s actually really fun. People speak Spanish in front of me all the time, and when I answer them back, they get really surprised.

Maybe this is an ignorant question. Are there many redheads in Puerto Rico?

I knew four when I was there. There are some, mostly in the mountains. I’ve traced my family back, and there’s one branch that goes back to the north of Spain. That’s as far north as it goes though. But I can drink like the Irish!

Would you ever want to work for a Latin porn site?

I’d love to! I’m not ashamed or anything, so of course I would! I love being Puerto Rican!

So, last question. As an expert on bottoming, what advice would you give someone who was afraid to take a dick in their butt?
