The new Garbage single “Blood For Poppies” is far from the band’s best work, but all that really matters is that lead vocalist Shirley Manson continues to be an eternal goddess of pure flawlessness. She can do no wrong! Seriously, she could pop up in a commercial for chicken wraps, and I’d forgive her for singing about “fresh lettuce” before the song was even over.
All in all, there’s bound to be at least one gem on the rock quintet’s forthcoming studio album Not Your Kind of People, and I will gladly search for it (with my ears) when the project drops on May 14th. Will you be joining me in this endeavor? Or is Garbage so ’90s that you’re over it?

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE Garbage. This song reminds me so much of “Beautiful Garbage”. It’s a cross between “Shut Your Mouth” and “Androgyny”. Everybody else can say how much they hate it…so be it. I love the song. I love Garbage. Shirley Manson is incredible.
I’ve been counting down the days until the album drops. It’s marked-underlined-starred-highlighted-circled on my calendar. The other single, “Battle in Me,” is better, but “Blood for Poppies” is still great.
Shirley Manson is a sex goddess.
I wouldn’t call Garbage ninties since there were two albums in the ninties and two in the two thousands.
Either way I’ll stop picking nits.
I had been wondering when new stuff was going to come out.
I’m glad they’re still banging stuff out I’ll join with you never figured you for a Garbage fan.
Thank you for posting about music again. I discovered two artists in this blog (Marina and the Diamonds and Florence and the Machine) who are favorites on my playlists after you showed them up here.
I’m glad Garbage is releasing new music, I find Blood for Poppies a safe single, although not a bad one. After all the boom they had in the 90’s I’m guessing they enjoyed going back to basics as they are saying in the interviews, they say they didn’t had so much fun since they wrote the first record; so I’m anxiously waiting to hear the final product.
And I love the Luis Buñuel inspiration of the video
I’m glad that Garbage is still making music. This a decent song, but I hope there are some other songs that can live up to their previous hits.
