Gasp! Sean Hayes Is Gay?

Sean Hayes

As if you couldn't have seen this one coming from a mile away, former Will & Grace star Sean Hayes has officially come out of the closet. He tells the Advocate, “I am who I am. I was never in, as they say. Never… I feel like I’ve contributed monumentally to the success of the gay movement in America, and if anyone wants to argue that, I’m open to it."

So does anyone want to argue that? Bring it! Hayes will soon be making his Broadway debut, alongside Kristin Chenoweth in a revival Promises, Promises. Clearly, his interview with the magazine is redundant, given that any man who shares a room with Chenoweth for long enough will inevitably want to put penises in his mouth. Duh!

  1. It’s nice to see that celebs coming out as gay is eliciting ho-hums even from gay websites. In a way it reinforces Hayes’ assessment that he’s helped advance the gay movement in America.
What I didn’t like about W&G was the stereotypes that were perpetrated on so many characters on the show, but that was the beauty of it……just as All in the Family did years before, showing the absurdity of certain views of stereotypes helps erase them more and more. Seeing straight people with gay friends helps make it more ‘normal’ in everyone’s life.
So, expected or not, congrats to Sean Hayes for coming out.

  2. Just spied this and showed it to some straight buddies. . .
    . . .their reaction?
    “Well, duh!!!”

  3. Ha ha ha! Seriously?!
This is a bigger shocker than when Rosie O’Donnell came out. Not finding out they were gay, but finding out it was apparently a “secret.” What’s next? Jesse Jackson is going to come out as black?
Seriously, though. I could have sworn he was out a long time ago. I guess maybe he just never used the actual words, “I’m gay.”
Anyway, good for him, I guess. Also, I can appreciate him keeping the details of his personal life private. Just because you’re a famous actor shouldn’t mean you’re automatically obligated to share every detail of your life with the world.

  4. As far as most I am concerned he was “out” the moment Jack came on our tv screens.

  5. Which brings up…Could The Advocate be any more useless? Tell me something I didn’t know. I had hoped Regent Media would make some long needed changes and save The Advocate. But, alas no.

  6. REALLY?!?! LYK OMFG, I’M SOO SHOCKED!
I don’t know, I just thought it was common knowledge. So he hasn’t actually come out until now…Um ok…Whatever…Good for him!
