A court today overturned Florida’s strict ban on gay adoption. Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Cindy Lederman said the law
violates equal protection rights for the couples and their children in her 53 page decision.
The state will appeal, with their arguments being “a supposed dark cloud hovering over homes of homosexuals and their children” followed by “the children of gay couples suffer a societal stigma.” So they create the stigma, then use it against gay couples? hmmm.
This will likely end up in the Florida Supreme Court but for now Frank Gill and his partner, the subjects of the case, will be allowed to adopt a 4 and 8-year-old they’ve raised since 2004.
