Gay Marriage in New Hampshire

New Hampshire Flag

The situation concerning gay-marriage in New Hampshire is a bit confusing, but a revised bill is making the rounds and has the governor's seal of approval. The bill has passed the senate 14-10 this morning, and now the fate of marriage equality in the "Live Free or Die" state lies with the house.

The house is expected to vote soon, and I'll update this story to let you know if a 6th state will allow gays to marry. Keep your finger crossed…

UPDATE: The house just passed the bill by 198-176!!! This means New Hampshire is VERY likely (pending the Governor's signature) to become the 6th state to allow marriage equality, joining Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont and Maine.

UPDATE 2x: The Governor signed the bill, making it official! You can now get gay married in New Hampshire!

  1. You should note that the law doesn’t take effect until January 1, 2010, if the other sites I’m reading are accurate.
