The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation's (GLAAD) have announced the nominees for their 20th annual Media Awards. The awards aim to recognize media for portraying GLBT characters in fair and accurate ways across all mediums.
ABC dominates once again, with six nominations including Outstanding Drama Series for Brother & Sisters and Outstanding Comedy Series for Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewifes.
Two Honorees will be presented with awards, Tyra Banks will be presented with the Excellence in Media Award, and Suze Orman will receive the Vito Russo Award. GLAAD President Neil G. Giuliano says, "Tyra Banks and Suze Orman have used their positions of power within
the media to become strong advocates on behalf of the LGBT community… they are changing hearts and minds, opening people's
eyes to our common humanity, and it is our privilege to honor them."
