Our hearts are full!
While Netflix works on the second season of Heartstopper, the hit LGBTQ+ series is now getting nominated for major award shows.
On Wednesday, March 22, Heartstopper writer Alice Oseman was nominated in the Writer: Drama category for the 2023 Television Craft Awards from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).
Oseman and Heartstopper will compete in this category with projects like This Is Going to Hurt (Adam Kay), Somewhere Boy (Pete Jackson), and The Responder (Tony Schumacher).
This BAFTA nod follows other major nominations received by Heartstopper since its original release in 2022. The show has been nominated in award shows such as the Children’s and Family Emmy Awards, the Dorian Awards, the MTV Movie & TV Awards, the Satellite Awards, and the GLAAD Media Awards.
Starring Joe Locke as Charlie and Kit Connor as Nick, Heartstopper has absolutely resonated with LGBTQ+ audiences around the world for its incredibly positive and heartwarming portrayal of a coming-of-age love story on TV. Oseman, who wrote the original graphic novels, is also the writer of this television adaptation from Netflix.
We will be rooting for Heartstopper to snatch some more trophies ahead of its second season!
The 2023 BAFTA Television Awards will take place Sunday, May 14.
