Hey, Want This Guy To Rape You?

Richard Whitehurst, THE RAPE TUNNEL, 4D Gallery, Columbus, Ohio, plywood tunnel, small room, no boundaries, unpleasant, art, gallery, exhibition, installation

If you answered "yes" to the title of this post, then you'll probably want to plan a road trip to the 4D Gallery in Columbus, Ohio. On October 30th, artist Richard Whitehurst will be debuting his controversial new work THE RAPE TUNNEL. And yeah, it's pretty much exactly what it sounds like.

The installation will include a twenty-two foot plywood tunnel, which leads to a small room. If you dare crawl through the tunnel, the artist will be waiting on the other side. And then he'll try his best to forcefully rape you in the most unpleasant fashion possible.

There are absolutely no boundaries as to who he will or will not rape. Whitehurst says, "It could be men, women, old, young, fat, thin… anyone." And if a police officer crawls through to arrest him? He'll try to rape them too.

Should a project like this be allowed? And if so, should we consider it "art"? Discuss!

UPDATE: Kudos to commenter furfiend for realizing that this was a fake story. At least it lead to an interesting conversation! Now how many of you would have actually crawled through that tunnel out of curiosity?

  1. As long as the person understands what he/she is getting into then it isn’t “rape” and thus there isn’t an issue.
    Nuf said!

  2. It sounds hot but the “And then he’ll try his best to forcefully rape you in the most unpleasant fashion possible” brings me back to earth. The only issue will be any legal ramification for the sex since it will be consensual.

  3. And, yes, I fail as an editor for typing, “to 10-second,” instead of, “the 10-second.” So sue me.

  4. Is fake?? Damn it!! I was actually going foward for the rape… I mean, look at him!! I’ll totally let him to do anything!

  5. Carlos, aren’t you the same one who was advocating child molestation on the Brent Corrigan post? You sure are a winner….

  6. Yes I agree with Bill. Carlos also spoke about the sex toys post and how this one sex toy (that required one to be bound) was great to put dildos in virgin asses since they couldn’t remove it(why would he want to put someone in a situation where its uncomfortable for them and they can’t remove something). I wonder about Carlos sometimes.

  7. even if you wind up brutalized at the end of the “encounter,” Consent was indeed implied β€” thereby rendering it “not rape” nor probably, for that matter, “not even assault.”
in the year 2009, those of us who have gumption enough to want to “give It a try” also know, by default and by logical extension, that Rape is not pleasant; and if a given person has the conviction (pardon my pun) to want to Rape, then, this same person might very well be Credibly Presumed to want to attempt other malicious acts on his target while it’s there.
you don’t travel through [a bad neighbourhood] with your life savings attached on your body and then, at the end of that excursion, wonder why you are no longer possessed of your property; i don’t think you would even make an attempt to call The Feds to report your “loss” β€” yeah?
(you’d probably be met with a counter-charge of being “an attractive nuisance,” or some such.)

and if, somehow, you genuinely didn’t know what lain in wait at the end of the tunnel?
    why?
whose curiosity, or “sense of adventure,” could be so strong, that he’d want to risk killing his cat for it?
the Creep Factor, alone, should discourage most from pursuing the endeavour very far β€” especially if everything is Pitch Dark, through the tunnel.

that photo of the purported artist was funny, by-the-by: it captured the “Douchey Criminal” look quite perfectly.
(and was that an actual glass bottle of beer in his right hand, off-camera?)

  8. If you read the “interview,” he does say he would try to make it as unpleasant an experience as possible (the point was to give people the emotional experience of those who are raped). It also sounds as if he may have had some surprises back there for overtaking his victims. So, even if the person was willing to begin with, it’s possible they might not have truly known what was in store for them, and changed their mind when they got back there. Now, whether that actually constitutes rape would have been a lengthy legal battle, I’m sure.

  9. this is truly disturbing, why in the hell would somebody have the excitement of being raped, sounds like some people have issues.

  10. sign me up. what’s the real difference between a rapist and an aggressive top that’s REALLY NSA, as long as you know about it beforehand.
