My favorite thing about Oklahoma duo QTFCKS is that their press photos look like they should be promoting a new, steamy backroom series on Dominic Ford or MEN.COM. My second favorite thing about Oklahoma duo QTFCKS is their latest track “Every Song”, which reminded me a bit of the DIY aesthetic of Matt & Kim, Hunx & His Punx, Totally Michael and early Hellogoodbye. Band members Derek Wanker and Alex Klaatu cite influences firmly rooted in the 1980s with a dash of modern-day electronic music for good measure, drawing inspiration from The Human League, Fischerspooner, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, Tiga, Kraftwerk, NIN, Hot Chip, Mount Sims, New Order, A Flock of Seagulls, Diamond Rings and Soft Cell. This makes a decent amount of sense, considering at least two of the three bands mentioned above would cite similar influences.
QTFCKS’ band slogan is “We give you music, you give us sex”, and Derek described himself in an e-mail to me as “one queer bitch”. He backs up that claim on Facebook by praising Alexander Skarsgård‘s penis, lusting after Enrique Iglesias and, oh yeah, having a giant cover photo with the word “QUEER” plastered across it. He’s cute in the sort of way that I would give him rimjobs and stick my dick up his butt, and maybe allow him to join Troy Daniels and Rich Kelly as one of my “brother husbands“. (This was an actual conversation that happened yesterday, by the way.)
There are rumors swirling around that Derek is very good in bed… But don’t look at me! I didn’t start them. Believe me, if I ever stopped by in Oklahoma City, I’d want to find out if they were true.
Derek’s bandmate Alex is tragically straight, but I won’t hold that against him if he wants to bottom for me too. He’s got a nice slim build, and I would have much more to tell you about him if I didn’t feel creepy stalking him on Facebook. You are welcome to make up your own fun facts about him. May I suggest starting rumors that he’s really into unicorns? I think he would like that. (Actually, I have no idea if he’d like that.)
Although QTFCKS have no official releases or handy-dandy tunes you can stream on Spotify, Derek promises that the pair’s working on their first album and intends to start playing some shows in October. Until then, most of their songs are available as free downloads on their Soundcloud page, and we can all look forward to a music video that’s currently in the works.
Contrary to popular belief, the music video will not be my sex tape with QTFCKS.
