So, first things first – I’ve talked about American Muscle Hunks several times in the last little bit here, and you should know I’m gonna keep doing it. There was this one back last year with Micah Brandt, and then Kyle Kash got tagged in or whatever it was that happened to him, and then last week Hugh Hunter and Dolf Dietrich were fucking in some bar basement and it was fucking great.

Like Guys In Sweatpants, there’s something going on here that belies this site’s corny (sorry guys) name and premise. The guys that they’re working with, and the stuff they’re producing feels like something. It isn’t just an overly elaborate setup story about nothing that results in two disconnected hot guys on a bed in a junior suite at a midlevel hotel. At AMH, there’s a fixation on what real men do with their penises and how they focus on physical pleasure. And it’s incredible.

The throughline on many of these scenes is Joey D, whom you should already be familiar with as a group. I’ve talked about him, his shit was on MHD before I even got here, and (I’ll keep telling you till you do it) you should be following him on twitter. I don’t actually know a ton about this guy, outside of his scenework and social media stalking, but I bet there’s more going on there than you’d expect from a big dick’d muscle boy with a name like “Big Joey.”

When you watch Joey in scenes, the fucking is always fine and he’s a capable and sturdily-built stallion. But I don’t care that much about fucking unless there’s a reason to, and the fact that anal intercourse has become a necessary channel through which every studio scene must pass (kissing, oral, anal, cumshot) is not a boon to porn, as far as I’m concerned. It’s fine. But I can take it or leave it. What’s interesting about Joey though, is all the stuff that happens around the fucking. This newest scene with Jack Hunter for AMH is no different. I’m going to toss the trailer in here and then we’re gonna talk about it a little bit:

 

 

Having watched the full scene multiple times this afternoon, I’m here to tell you that teaser did it no justice. That makes it look like just another throw-away, strangers fucking in a bathroom, abandon it to the heap after pounding out one load of knuckle babies, piece of digital garbage.

And it truely isn’t. Because of Joey.

What’s missing from that trailer (and hear me out, American Muscle Hunks, because I think you’re doing your content a disservice) is all of the little moments and beats that make Joey so fucking fun to watch. The stuff that actually makes your cock swell up (on the third (!) or fourth (!!) rewatch of the same scene) even if you don’t know that’s what’s doing it. It’s little bromo moves like kissing Jack full on the mouth and reaching up – without opening his eyes or distracting Jack – to flip his bill to the back, like he’s fucking Magic Mike or something:

 

 

There’s an energy and a presence when Joey is on screen where it feels like he’s really there. I shouldn’t have to explain that, and in a perfect world all adult performers would be great actors who knew how to give it up on camera and really be there for their scene partners. But of course that’s nonsense, as this Guys in Sweatpants scene from earlier this week demonstrated. Those guys aren’t connected or present or concerned about how their physicality impacts the other person involved, or in responding (or RE ACTING) to what their partners are feeling or doing.

 

 

I realize how womany and feelingsy this all sounds, but there’s stuff going on when you watch porn that – even when your brain isn’t keyed into its presence or absence – affects how your boner relates to the activities on the screen. And Joey, whether he’s Streep-ing his way through porn, or is just sort of incidentally really good on camera, knows this. My prediction is that it’s a little of both: I think he knows how to perform on camera, and I also suspect he’s probably legitimately really good in bed.
